Unless backed by action, mere talks are meaningless. We must understand that the maintenance of law and order and the protection of citizens is primarily the responsibility of the provincial administration and not the military. The latter can be called for help if and when needed. The ugly truth is that there has been a massive failure on the part of the provincial administration in Baluchistan and portents are, it could also happen in PK sooner than later. Secondly, you never negotiate from a position of weakness. To suggest otherwise, as some media stalwarts are doing, is foolish. Put the provincial house in order and firmly establish the govt. writ firmly first before even thinking of anything else.
