​@@freshwatertanks What we do is move the stone that eggs are laid on to a separate, small aquarium with the same temperature and water chemistry. We add an air stone to circulate the water, and carefully measure 1 ml of 3% H2O2 per 2-litres every 12 hrs (just dose 3x). Once fry eat through their yolk sack and are completely free-swimming, we feed newly hatched artemia 2x / day. Java moss can be added for additional infusoria.

@@freshwatertanks Yes. Works fine. We've raised quite a few Amazon egg layers this way. It is special to watch parents raise their own, but "pulling" eggs is an established way to multiply a species. Fry may be able to accept very finely crushed dried flake food if raising artemia is burdensome. Xtreme flake food is an excellent option to try.

hi there. tank is a complete set from the company juwel. it‘s a rio 450 led. i don‘t know if they distribute their tanks to canada. i guess not, but you can check their website. if you search for juwel aquariums you will easily find it. and yes it‘s a 5ft tank. w: 20in, h: 23.6in 😃🐟

Your tank inspired me to get tapajos! I set up a tank with 6 geo's and a school of serpae tetra and they are doing great! The geo's are still young so they kinda school with the tetras some of the time but most of the time they are off doing their own things, especially the ones I can tell are male will venture out to the corners of the tank exploring

yes i used to keep lemon tetras. but they didn't super well with the geos so i moved them to another tank. serpaes are nice too. i think they should get along well with the geos!

I love this tank, i added columbian red fin tetras to mine geo tank, i have 8 tapajos and 12 of the red fins, went with them as they grow slightly bigger than most tetras and they get on great 😀 what else do you feed apart from the artemia?

i was looking for colombien red fin tetras too but i‘ve never seen them in stores here in switzerland. i also feed frozen red and white mosquito larvaes, 3 different types of granules and bug bites from hikari 😃

no it‘s the roe brown and size is 1-2mm. i think the borneo brown is finer and darker than the roe brown…

i never had any issues with vacuuming and coloration. it‘s a perfect size. but i switched to sand because of the geos (which i‘ve all lost a few weeks ago). at the moment i only have one big tank which is cycling at the moment! and thanks a lot for subscribing 😃

i‘m sure they will! honestly i first used tap water with a ph of around 7.2, gh 8 and tds of 330 and they started to get hole in the head disease. now i‘m mixing the water with ro water with ph of 6.5, gh 4 and tds around 180 and the holes are gone and they do fine... but i‘vecread from other users that they keep them in harder water without any problems...

the inside filter is working perfectly fine it just takes some space and i wanted a bigger filter. but i was always happy with it so it’s a good filter. i took it out by using a nylon line so no knives etc needed so no scratches…

i don‘t really know! 🤷‍♂️ last time my pair managed to get the eggs in their mouth but that‘s about it. i think it would help to keep the breeding pair alone. often the other geos are attacking them and eat the eggs! 😕

yes i did bring him back to the store because he was a little bit agressive towards the geos from time to time. and the sun is only shining for about an hour through this window. so not really a problem 😃

Vielen Dank! 😃 Pflanzen sind für die Geo‘s kein Problem. Aber sie buddeln halt sehr viel und entwurzeln dabei oft Pflanzen, was mühsam ist. Darum nur die eine Anubias Barteri, welche auf einer Wurzel befestigt ist! Machts einfacher!

By now they have probably hatched and parents are carrying them? I breed these alot and I have had way more success with a spawning tank just for the pair, when they breed in my show tank it's like WW3 and I ended up with injured fish and ultimately fry get eaten... However you are lightly stocked in that beautiful tank, mine is stacked with fish!! Congrats and good luck with the fry ,I hope you are successful. Beautiful tank!!!

@@freshwatertanks yeah the eggs "hatch" in 3-4 days and become tiny little Wiggler's and the parents take them in their mouths and actually will pass them back and forth to one another so the male or female can feed ,I've noticed the male is the most important normally doing all the work raising the fry and can even get aggressive towards the female... If you setup a tank with just the pair they will literally do everything and raise the young all the way to adults but I always remove the parents after the fry become big enough to not fit back in the parents mouth ,they grow rapidly to about a inch or 2.5cm then slow down a little

Thanks a lot! :) Well rosy tetras doing much better than the lemon tetras. But i don't know if they are super happy. Most of the time they are unter the driftwood or near the anubias. They openly swim only when the lights are off and during feeding time. I do have some open space especially on the top of the tank. Will add soon floating plants again. Fish do like it more when the top is covered. :)

I really want to do a geophagus tank one day. (my all time dream forever has been like a 500 litre south american biome style with geophagus and a few other species) love tetras and corydoras too but would be scared of my geos eating them since they are smaller and corydoras are bottom dwelling. Do your geos ever try bother or eat your tetras? wonder what they would be like with a dwarf cichlid? may have asked this before sorry as I have been thinking about it for awhile. hi there! 👋 i‘ve tried to keep them first with lemon tetras but it didn‘t really work out. once in a while they catched one. now i have rosy tetras and they are doing much better! i think dwarf cichlid could work (at last when they are not trying to mate). i‘ve never tried to keep them with corys as i‘m not lucky with them. have some in my other tank and they keep dying. don‘t know why 😐

Vielen Dank! Meerwasser? Interessant. Ich bin mich nämlich jetzt schon seit wirklich mehreren Monaten intensiv über Meerwasseraquarien am informieren. Reizt mich schon sehr einen Versuch zu wagen. Kosten sind halt schon um einiges höher als bei Süsswasser.

Yes, es ist viel teurer, sowohl die Tiere als auch die Ausrüstung und was man sonst noch braucht. Aber es ist schon ein schönes Hobby. Jemand hat gesagt, dass der Vergleich zwischen meerwasseraquaristik und Süßwasseraquaristik ist wie der Vergleich zwischen Farbfernseher und schwarz/weiß..Das finde ich aber unfair, vor allem wenn man so ein Becken wie dein sieht. 😊

Ich finde beides toll. An Meerwasser gefällt mir die Artenvielfalt (jetzt nicht mal die Fische) und dass das Licht blaulastig ist und auch anspruchsvoller ist. Mal schauen, vielleicht wage ich es bald. Bin schon am Sparen 😃

Herzlichen Dank wegen dem Job. Ja ich habe immer wieder das gleiche Päärchen das ablaicht, aber lange überleben die Eier nicht. Werden so nach 2 Tagen von den anderen Geo's gefressen. Sind aber schon schöne Fische oder?
