Here's my 1st & 2nd flight of the Bixler 3 in August 2014: • Bixler 3 Maiden Flight...
There was no air traffic in the vicinity and always visual contact with the plane from the ground.

Great video, nice Bix3 setup too by the sounds of it. Anyone wondering if it's easy fitting in all the FPV gear... it's really easy... there are 3 large flat areas for anything you like, LiPos, AP, OSD, RX, ESC... lots of room inside.

Hi. Thanks for this video comparing these RC Planes for beginners. I still flight my BIX3 almost all weekend and publish my videos about what a I learn with him and all can learn too. It's a great RC Airplane to learn, I say that in all my videos. The fact of BIX3 have landing gear is advantage in my opinion to learn to do great landings. And have Flaps... No, sorry. I use 5.8 GHz with Cloverleaf / Skew Planar Wheel / Helical Antennas (Diversity) and GoPro Hero 3 (now Hero 4) live out.

I am planning to buy a biller very soon, i am not sure yet if the bixler2 or the bix3 ... Do you think the motor which comes with this bix3 is more than enough even if the plane is heavy and loaded with flight controller and fpv gear?

My Bix3 has approximately 1.5 kg take-off weight and it flies very well with stock setup. You should place your stuff far at the back of your fuselage if you want to mount a gopro and battery to the front. Otherwise it's too nose heavy.

Hello, Really nice Video man! I am thinking of buying a Bixler. I have a 1250 KV X2216-8 motor and some 9x4 props would the props clear the tail? i noticed you use a 8x4 prop

9x4 is probably too large. 8x4 works perfectly. Did you order your Bix3 in the meanwhile?

I don't have the Bixler 1 & 2, but version 3 is really a great plane! It climbs to 500 m above ground easily in 2 1/2 minutes with stock motor, 8x4 APC + GoPro / FPV stuff. But it's also nice for low flying... Well, I'm still testing it ;)

Moisés Melo Probably not exactly the same (my final weight is 1.4 kg), but I'm sure your performance is good enough for cruising around and having fun with that plane. I think your climb rate should be around 150 m / minute. Let me know.

This is so mesmerizing! Do you fly off the GoPro or a dedicated FPV cam? I tried hooking up my GoPro 2 at 720p to my ImmersionRC RX but the video gets delayed. I only have a 25mW RX (because I live in Norway *sigh*). Could that be the issue?

It's the GoPro 3 Live Out, no other cam onboard. I'm sure the delay has nothing to do with 25mW. Maybe it's a GoPro 2 or SD card issue. I recommend using high quality SD, e.g. the SanDisk Extreme Plus or Pro.

I'm curious about your layout. From front to back, do position main battery, camera above main battery, secondary battery, GPS in front of motor, ESC, OSD, VTX near tail? Does the Bix 3 have a bigger wing chord and/or more space in the fuse? Thanks.

The equipment is exactly placed as you have described it. GPS is placed on top of the wing. With this configuration the CG fits pretty good. The space in the fuselage of course is not compareable with the one in a Skywalker, but it should be enough for batteries up to 4000mAh.

You get around 15 min motor power and up to 30 min flight time (gliding)

You just need an OSD (On-Screen-Display). Shows you exactly where home is.

Thanks a lot! There's absolutely no modification of my 2.4 GHz system. It's the Graupner MX-16 with GR-16 receiver. You can reach over 1.5 km range without any loss of signal. However, I haven't tried out the maximum range yet ;)

+ryan hidayat Hi Ryan, it's just 2.4 GHz remote controller by Graupner and 5.8 GHz Video with good CL, SPW and helical antennas. It's not really long range. All flown within 1 km radius.

I stabilize the GoPro with 4 rubber vibration dampener. They work very well. But the most important things for low vibrations are balanced prop and motor.

I was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between the bixler 2 and the bix 3. I'm a beginner to the hobby and was just wondering which one I should get as my first plane.

The Bixler 3 (bix3) is an improved version of the Bixler 2. They're both beginner planes and excellent for FPV. If you're not sure which one to buy I'd go for the bix3.... It comes with a landing gear which is very nice if you have something to land it on (like a hardened road or short grass). Of coarse you need to buy your FPV gear separate. If you're beginner I'd also check out a channel called 'Flite Test', they have a great beginners guide to get you up in the air. Also, you need to buy a proper radio (like the Turnigy 9x) and make sure you do buy some 9 gram servos for the flaps because they'll be flapin' in the wind like crazy if you don't attach servos to it.
