Oh this is an album you need to listen to all the way. The Magician is one of the best songs ever

I love this song. Man in his mid 60's here - and I can hear King Crimson, Santana, Talking Heads, The Divine Comedy and Steely Dan. All great and still manages to be its own thing. Funny, Cool and the lyrics (story) is next level cleverness. I love how the character is a self-aggrandising douche but is so insecure that he has to hire a hooker to look good, yet still remains very respectful of the girl - which kinda reveals his insecure but principled, even slightly charm... still a dick mind! Yeh, great song.

2 Fun facts! 1 greep is actually friends with the king gizz guys kinda, he talked about it a little in an ama and also theyve opened for eachother 2 you absolutely need to listen to black midi right now and also the rest of this solo album like imedietly

Definitely contender for album of the year for me, and there is no contest that this is my song of the year. It might honestly be my favourite song to come out so far this decade. And I was never a huge black midi fan either. Also the sound quality isn't amazing because its only available via cellphone footage but the 13 minute jam version of this song (live at the ICA night 2, 5/10/24) is SO GOOD!!

Another great introduction to Geordie's stuff is the album Hellfire by Black Midi, his old band. There's quite an overlap between the KG and BM fandom

For Black Midi, just react to their first (the oldest) KEXP performance. It's on KEXP's KZbin channel. There is literally no better introduction to them than that. I promise it will blow your mind, I promise you won't regret it, mind-blowing exhilarating shit.
