Great co-host! George is a great person to learn from! For those who aren't interested in installing the decoders themselves, Soundtraxx does have a list of factory train installers/hobbyshops, including myself, that someone could send their locomotive to have that sound installed. George is definitely the lighting guru! - Jason

Still trying to build a basic modular layout in DC. So sound is not even on the horizon. Doesn't take away from your video just saying. Good to hear the George is in Durango, Co. Thanks for the information. Thanks George for getting your face out there in front of us. I have seen you on Ken's show several times.

Great video! Soundtraxx is still my 'favorite' sound decoder, but I'm interested in learning more about other brands too (hint, hint!). As an HO guy, I'm very excited to see the newest N-scale decoder offerings because the smaller HO switchers and early steam 4-4-0s have very limited space for decoders. Sometimes technology IS our friend!!!

What I want to know is how well they consist with Non sound as well as other sound equipped engines. It always seems like sound equipped engines have another plan in mind when running with non sound units. Yes waiting for a start up is nice etc. etc. but it needs to behave itself in a consist of 3 or 4 other engines.

From personal experience, it is always better to consist the same brand decoders. For example, if I have a diesel with a Tsunami 2 installed and I’m lashing them together with two other diesels w/o sound I’m going to want the non sounded ones to have a non sound Soundtraxx decoder for ease of use. If not using the same brand my first recommendation is to speed match them. This will involve CV programming but will let everything run smoothly.

@@James-Railyard Not really an option in N scale on an operating layout, That is why the question was asked.

Contact our Support Department for more information, but you can consist our decoders with other brand decoders. We recommend using an advanced consist for the best results. SoundTraxx Support Department: support@soundtraxx.com

Hello Ron my name is Robert from Iowa. I model Ho but I have learned a lot to make my railroad come to life. And thanks to Gorge from soundtracks for all the information. All my locomotives have tsunami2 decoders. I have tried others and they don't even come close to tsunami2 so I will keep using tsunami2. Thanks for a easy to use and understand tsunami2.

They really need to make sound decoder for N scale RS 2&3

We do have more N-scale Tsunami2 decoders than we have in the past. The TSU-1100 will fit into some RS-3 decoders for sure. You can learn more on our website: soundtraxx.com or contact our Support Team for more information: support@soundtraxx.com

I just purchased an Atlas loco with sound, love the engine but the sound is way too faint and little base. I think I would be willing to try a Kato drop in on one of my Fs hopefully a little more deeper prime mover sound.

I have a question about sound quality, when you compress the sounds doesn't that effect the sounds compared to DCC decoder that doesn't compress the sounds ? educate me please. I'm thinking the compression of the sounds files doesn't effect it much unless you know what you're listening for.

Interesting interview, thanks to you both. Have soundtraxx considered contributing their decoder configurations to the JMRI project? Sound decoders (SUSI?) are particularly complex and I’m sure the project would appreciate the contributions.

I replaced all my Digitrax and ESU decoders to Soundtraxx. Like Ron my Big Boy, as an example, sounds darn close to the real thing. Diesels engines also sound so close to the real thing. I am no a rivet counter but cheap tin sounds take away from the experience. When purchasing new locos I first look for Soundtraxx equipped locos.
