It really does suck that Carlin is gone. It would have been great to hear him comment on anything current.
@BenTIStudios9 жыл бұрын
metaitachi It' bad for ya is semi-current but not current enough I agree. Carlin told it like he saw it. He is the the number 1 stand up comedian of all time. Pryor coming in just behind him. Both those guys have influenced a lot of comedians so we are lucky with that at least.

Outkasted1980 Pryor influenced Carlin.

Thankfully, we still have Lewis Black to show just how nonsensical it all is. Kinda like Carlin if he just got more pissed off instead of divorcing himself from it.
@BenTIStudios9 жыл бұрын
+Alex Gray he was one of them yes. they also worked together some.
@brandonf249 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, Lewis Black....doesn't come close to the insightful social commentary George could field. Mr. Carlin had a gift and has left other political satirists like Bill Maher among others in awe. If George was alive today....I wonder what he would say about the contemporary social and political scene.

I got George Carlin's book Last Words for Christmas. It's amazing how personal he gets about his life, his comedy, and how he dealt with life in the 20th century and the 2000's. Some of the stories will surprise you but if you liked any of his books he wrote when he was alive, Last Words is a great read for you.

I was feeling totally and completely at peace until the very last split-second when Hannity's smug, condescending face momentarilly popped up on the screen. Quite frankly, it scared the fuck out of me. Nonetheless, thank you SO MUCH for posting this. George Carlin is a legend, and inarguably deserves that title.

Carlin sees no hope, but I see it otherwise... things have always been this way. The officials gain more and more power and the simple man loses his rights, until he's fed up with it and rises against the corrupt establishment. Every rotten empire eventually falls and gets a fresh starts from the ruins.

if you see that this is the necessary dance for america to be what it is, then you feel apathy about right and left issues and politics in general, especially debating issues. carlin always knew this, and so just liked to have a lot of fun with people so passionate about political issues and religious issues.

The number of poltical parties doesn't automatically make a democratic country. It can lead to a great deal of confusion and stagnation, meaning that things get done a lot more slowly. Certain European countries are suffering from the sheer amount of parties. It's all a matter of coalitions and a balance that can be ruined very, very easily.

Agree fully with Carlin on his opinion of American Culture, which is just raw, unbridled greed. I think he's wrong with his stance on saying we don't have "real" choices in the things that matter. We live in the age of the internet where most folks do get news from the internet, not just the big 3 media companies. As far as banks go, you don't need to have 15 banks to store money, it isn't serious. Government works if you could wring the corruption from it. THAT is going to take a new Party

@MsThebeMoon9 жыл бұрын
Nat Jay : And congress doesn't block or filibuster. The president alone does not pass bills or make laws. WTF are you really getting at? And what about those government shutdowns. Do you really think the power is in the people where it should be? That's why George Carlin didn't vote though he has admitted to leaning left. What exactly do you believe? Give details and sources.

Love George and miss the guy. Huge, huge fan. That said, the key - the cornerstone - of this whole point/argument that George seems to have missed is that to care about property IS to care about people and their rights and liberty. We - our bodies and minds and souls - are our own property. Rights are derived from property. Give up the protection of your property rights, and you lose protection of all rights. They're one in the same.
