Later in life, George wondered why he wasn't asked to be in any of the retrospectives and celebrations of SNL. Nobody gave him any reason, according to him. I think that as a monologist and observational comedian, Carlin had no peers. He was the cat's pajamas for 33 years after hosting the first SNL. LONG LIVE GEORGE!

His performances changed more than he did, if you listen to really old recordings he made privately he was very very VERY cynical from the start, his rant on the police is amazing.

Here in Greece, the constitution seperates the state from the church, but before school we all had to gather and say a prayer anyway. And if you didn't show up 5 minutes earlier or if you didn't sit quietly and move your hands up and down every now and then, you got shit from the teachers. We even have a subject in every year from elementary school till the last eyar of high school and the subject is called "religion"(religious things in free translation). You get graded in that subject, which is only about orthodox christianity, whiel didn't didn't get graded in PE, arts and music. The principles won't even let the kids to not attend the class. Even if you have your parents sign that you are an atheist, muslim etc, it still depended on the teachers and the principal. It's total bullshit, but at least not even the teachers believed in any of that. They just read from the books and told us that some people believe that the things in the Bible are real.

Im from Serbia. In my time, there wasnt any orthodox bullshit in schools. In 2001(I think), they installed "veronauka" which means "science about the faith". Officially, kidd dont have to attend that class but you better be or else they gonna call you "a commie" and "not a Serb" and major of the society will make you and your kidds life very difficult.

not entirely true. i was born in 1997 and it was a bit cooler... We also had a girl who wasnt christian orthdox and she chose not to get that religion class. She wasnt graded.

Carlin was my favorite comedian but he was ultra-liberal and he wouldn't criticize Democrats. It's probably best that he's not still alive because I would have had to cancel him by now.
