he was a very intelligent comic who was able to foresee mankind's potential for disaster, and presented it in a comical way.
@EightBall13 жыл бұрын
@Golemoid I know how he felt about "the invisible man in sky, spying us with a list of 10 things he doesn't want us to do". It was actually a joke.

@BryonThePoet George Carlin's death broke a month for this mind. I am so glad to have seen him live, he seemed sick...but highly intelligent, he was. This was performed before 911, but after much government-right-wing-overlooked terrorism had already occurred. His entire last tour centered around suicide, immediately after my closest friend died from lighting himself on fire. It felt more personal than it was...because it wasn't personal. Carlin is/was as great as he has been and will be.

carlin was the greatest stand up comedian ever partly because he said it like it is

@ndeertrack13 жыл бұрын
@danning1 He was talking about the public's fascination with disasters and watching news about said disasters on TV. He said the closer to home the better.... but not *too* close. He's interpretation of it may seem over the top, but have you noticed the way news media has glorified 9/11 and how much people gobble it up year after year after year? We can't seem to get enough of memorials, tributes, speeches, reruns of the footage, books, discussion, tears, etc.

@nanderv I know but since I saw it was 18 seconds I thought Carlin was going to be alittle more direct like "On september 11, 2001 two planes will hit the twin towers in New York" Then yeah George Carlin would've been pretty spot on about that...
@PassportBrosBusinessClass13 жыл бұрын
Yeah- cause buildings have never crumbled before. I thought this clip would be about " taking over an airplane with forks and knives"

@IceMetalPunk A prediction doesn't mean it's true. The only reason you should believe that is if you're part of the Mayan religion and culture. You don't believe things that other religions believe in but you believe what the Mayans think. Predicting, does not make everyone phychics. Predictions are just guesses.

@IceMetalPunk No they didn't. Their calendar ends next year but you know what they said happens after that? They start their calendar over. People these days have said the Mayans said the world will end next year, but it simply isn't true. They did not predict the end of the world. We may all still die next year, but the Mayans didn't predict it.
