Well, there was enough pressure so that the women who were getting assaulted didn't speak up. Why would it be up to men who have only heard hearsay to come forward about something for which they know no details nor whether it's actually true? Side note, I went to HR at a company I worked for because I felt like a woman there was being verbally abused by our boss (in a sexual manner) and the woman f-ing lost her job! I quit soon after, but it's not always as easy to help as you might think.

Well sometimes victims feel like they can’t come forward, afraid of the rapist etc,but that predator raped another person after them, I’m not accusing them but they know from first hand what that person has done, do you think the first person he rape is also guilty of the other rapes?, I think they didn’t tell anything because they didn’t even believe the guy and their coworkers didn’t tell them, and even if they knew, what could they do, If they couldn’t confirm the allegations without the victims confirming the act, some of the victims are adults and they know who to speak with, the thing is everyone was afraid of their career, and lives that’s why some victims even stayed silent, is only the rapist fault.

The only solution for such people is to bring them out to the light and expose their filth to the world. Not necessarily someone not groomed for abuse or with more self esteem may react differently actually what did Harvey in was how strong and accomplished and outspoken the accusers were had they had no confidence they would be less likely to report it at all. @BWater-yq3jx Жыл бұрын
So women should take no responsibility for their well-being and safety, whatsoever. Is that what you call 'empowerment' ? Most assaults by men are against other men. And you know how men deal with that threat? By making smart decisions; avoiding situations that could lead to serious harm, training hours and hours a week for years, to be strong and capable of defending themselves, and maintaining awareness of their surroundings. In other words, taking FULL RESPONSIBILITY for their safety.

When did he say it happens because women make bad decisions? Lmao. The man’s obviously to blame, but sorry to break it to you, but women have to take some responsibility as well. It's all very well saying that 'change' needs to occur, or that victims need to feel 'comfortable' exposing monsters, but at the end of the day, the reason victims exist is most often because their abusers have the wealth, connections, or overall sheer power to be untouchable, for at least as long as it takes for them to tarnish or ruin someone's life. As long as bullies and sadists are represented amongst the powerful, this will always be a feature of reality.

No, it's never the victim's fault, but as a parent, you have to come out and talk clearly about this issue. The world is full of bullies and ppl with crooked values, and it's important as a parent to teach girls they're worthy, help them to think highly of themselves and make them understand it's safe to come out and talk about any related incident, that this actually happen very often and can come from anybody in any way, shape or form so they can learn to detect it , and all that means we must help'em to build up self steem, so in that particular point, he's right, and also you won't be present when any of those things could actually happen, even if you tried. I have a daughter, and I've suffered myself from harrassment at work before when i was younger, the thing is that after the shock, and i processed it, i never went on silent, i always stood up for myself and had my parents to support me, but it's not easy to overcome the feeling of wondering if it's not something you're just exagerating or overeacting about, just because the system and our culture has silently allowed that kind of behaviour for centuries. The world is changing and it's time to raise our voices if we have gone through this, even when it's subtle.

Oh my gosh, Matt Damon lost me when he said that he was going to teach his daughters self esteem so they can protect themselves from this. That is victim shaming - blaming. So you are saying that women or men who are violated in this manner automatically have low self esteem and are making the choice to be victimized? If the vicitms really made these choices to do these things regardless of their level of self esteem, they would have been consenting individuals - not assault vicitims. And then it is laying it at the potential victim's hands to prevent assault, which is ludicrous. This mindset needs to change for this to change.

I saw an interview with Joan Collins and powerful men in Hollywood have been doing this to women for YEARS. It's just a shame that careers and people's well-being have been affected by this abuse of power. And none of these male actors thought to lookout for the females in their industry. Brad Pitt is the only one I have heard thus far that actually protected an actress from harrassment by confronting Weinstein. I've definitely lost respect for these two actors.

im probably gona get backlash for saying this, but i think ppl is hypocritical, would you quit your job if you found out your boss is a jerk or a womanizer?? that is hitting on girls?....we see them as mega-stars, but we are talking about a man who was beyond powerful, who was so powerful that could make your career disappear if he wanted to, and george and matt worked for him, they were his employees, Harvey practically owned hollywood in the late 90´s and the early 2000's, im sure he took advantage of his position and had sex with many hot young girls who wanted to make it in this industry, more than focusing on the ppl who didnt speak up, we have to focus on our society, what are we doing wrong to make this happen, why countries open oportunities to these pigs and make them powerful....how we can stop this and prevent it from ever happening again, what do we need to change in the constitution, to create an special office runned by the goverment where disadvantaged girls and ppl can go to sue powerful ppl who try to take advantage of them, why are we talking about the actors that didnt speak?!, that is not gona solve the problem, and these ppl didnt know about the sexual rapes, they just saw an asshole, and dont we se that kind of ppl in our jobs?, sometimes is our boss!, just answer to me, all the ppl who think they have the morals, would you quit?, let me know to applaud you

I was thinking of that myself too, I can't say cause all my bosses has been either female or a complete gentleman. What's infuriating to the public I think is their utter hypocrisy where they continuously congratulates and praises each other for how outspoken and brave they are, but only against those they know there's a standing ovation awaiting, and not only it wouldn't hurt their career but will find themselves in favor of the bosses they served.

@sarakearns1516 Жыл бұрын
What Matt Damon said about self-esteem and his daughters protecting themselves is gross. If he still thinks that way, he really needs to listen to women, take a good hard look at the reality, and get educated. Clooney was a lot better: he said "we're all complicit" and "we're all going to have to be responsible... to make it impossible to happen." I hope that he wasn't just talking about Hollywood because each of us is complicit not around Weinstein specifically but regarding rape culture. If we've been victimized, we're certainly not complicit in those experiences, but outside of that, no matter how well informed one is, no matter how feminist one is, no matter what sex or gender, no matter what our experiences, we have to keep a critical lens on ourselves. It's easy to just condemn others but we've all been conditioned to disregard women so no matter how well intentioned, we all have to admit that it's possible that we ourselves have room to improve. That's especially true for men but being a woman, intersexed, trans, or non-binary doesn't automatically mean that we're free from responsibility for the larger problem of gender inequality.

Why would it be up to men who have only heard hearsay to come forward about something for which they know no details nor whether it's actually true? When even the women who were getting assaulted didn't speak up. And who knows, even if he did maybe they would have blame them instead, just to save their careers; its harder to help then one might think Side note, I went to HR at a company I worked for because I felt like a woman there was being verbally abused by our boss (in a sexual manner) and the woman f-ing lost her job! I quit soon after, but it's not always as easy to help as you might think. -someone wrote

I am not sure what either Clooney or Damon could do. Clooney said that Weinstein bragged to him about affairs he'd had, no mention of sexual predation. Damon said he knew of the Gwyneth Paltrow story (Weinstein had tried to massage Paltrow and invited her into her bedroom) from Ben Affleck, but after it happened both Affleck and Paltrow continued to work with Weinstein. Paltrow was dating Brad Pitt at the time and Pitt told Weinstein never to touch Paltrow again. What was Damon supposed to do after hearing about the story second hand? Paltrow and Affleck had chosen to continue working Weinstein. Even if they had heard rumours of Weinstein's sexual predation, what could they have done? As they didn't experience it first hand, they couldn't go to the police, as it's hearsay. If they repeated it, Weinstein could have sued them for defamation.

true an *alleged. one can also make the case that since Harvey is, or maybe, was, this titan wealthy powerful figure in Hollywood, many women on the 'me too' movement find now "prime hunting season" for a nice lawsuit pay day. It's a fine line between evidence and "he said she said". Your gut feeling tells you, he has a history of sexual advances toward unsuspecting females. The burden of proof is still not there yet.
