This song was played at my old man's funeral, as we were walking out after the service. He like George Formby, and we have family connections on the IOM. My dad was evacuated there during the war, he also raced bikes and he had raced on the island.

I remember this film come on a pub in Peel in the early 90’s when I was in my early 20’s. Every TT fan from various parts of world all went quiet and where glued to screen. Bar none there is no bigger Bucket list for a bike fan. Growing up in Northern Ireland and watching Legends from the 70’s until I migrated to Australia in 2005. It’s the one thing I cannot replace in life! Was at 32 TT’s in my 35 years of existence up to that point in life. I will go back to my spiritual home one day 🥰😍😘

Bless George Formby, that man was born for two things: having a heart winning smile and playing a mean ukelele...

I cannot get enough of this movie or this song. I watched it a few nights ago and noticed the old man wearing the Hat with the mustache and the alcohol is in almost every scene of the movie. Expected out in the background and most of the time he's either drunk or asleep. Look for him next time you view the film. You'll love it

I'm from oop north and this is still what it's like on't train now a days, folk passing round a bottle of alcohol and some fella with a tiny guitar playing a song.

As an American I say God bless the TT. We don't need the UN or any other political forum or other bullshit. I believe in love between all ethnicities and countries. God bless the TT and all who participate in it or watch it. Peace and kindness amongst all races, etc. . . It's called the TT. When I die, may i please be buried in the Isle of Man in sight of the Mountain Course!!!?

It's a tenor ukulele. It has 19 frets, interestingly (I've counted them on the DVD! 18 is the norm. I'm not sad, honestly!)

My favourite George Formby film. Unlikely to be back on terrestrial TV any time soon. Who is the supporting actress behind George's right shoulder? She appears in several GF films.

Apparently my Great Aunt Fanny Shuttleworth taught George at Wigan in the short time he attended school- I always wondered if he was called George Shuttleworth in this film after her? If anyone from the G.F.Society has any info, I'd love to know!

Think there racing again tomorrow, it's still been going for more than 100 years now. 111 years I think, 1907, when Matchless owner one the first race, he got called a cheat as he peddled out the mountain, so they banned pedals next year.
@petercnixon15 жыл бұрын
Yeah, not the chords in the book! I was just trying to work out what he's doing. Assuming key of D, I reckon after G min he's going up to d#7 then d7. I've noticed before he used a strange fingering for that chord shape, he also uses it in the video for They Laughed when he does c#7, instead of barring the whole fret and putting one finger on the third string of the next fret he uses his index for strings 1 & 2, his middle for the 4th and ring for the 3rd!
