WTH? People who know even a few things about George know that he had a very great wit. Did you just want to use the term "underrated" because it's the term everyone uses now?
@somethingyousaid50595 жыл бұрын
@@TheVeek192 Exactly what did you misunderstand? I paid him a compliment. That he had an underrated sense of humor means that he generally wasn't given enough credit for being as funny as he was. I understand completely why you say "underrated" here -- anyone who relies on the "authoritative biographies" on The Beatles invariably see George portrayed as a constantly dour, unsmiling man without even a hint of a sense of humour. Of course, when you watch interviews of Harrison, or hear comments from people who actually knew him, you discover he had a very droll and sardonic wit (pretty typical of Liverpudlians actually -- and I know...I'm married to one).

What people would do is copy VHS to VHS and with each generation the quality would suffer. Some of these were probably fourth, fifth, sixth generation. In the 80's and 90's people would sell copies of these tapes, too, to make a profit which is probably also where some of these originated from. Not like now how you can transfer VHS directly to your computer.

Only just found this, great stuff. Here's a little story about this awesome man. My Grandmother knew the Harrison family, she regularly used to see him when he was a baby and made a great fuss of him. She used to get a card off him every Christma. Anyway, she passed away in the early 80's at the great age of 93. My mother desperately tried to let him know, by then, of course, he was a household name, So she never knew if her efforts to inform him had got through. On the day of my Grandmother's funeral (in Liverpool) a man dressed very casually was sat at the back of the church. Mother briefly spoke to him and he hugged her for a minute or so, no one realised who he was. He thanked her for letting him know. After the service he just melted away and disappeared. He made such an effort when s simple note would have been nice. What a wonderful, kind, caring man.

I have loved him for 53 years :p, lol! FYI I was a little precocious. :-) I love how blunt and straight forward he was, not many people can handle that, and that's how I really am, have had to tone it down a little because not being a celebrity fewer people are willing to listen to me. The sad thing is that most people REALLY like to be lied to, but they're so full of themselves they convince themselves what their "friends" are telling them is the truth. If one's not saying what they want to hear they'll move on to a member of their "herd" that will play by their rules - George never or rarely did and I admire him for that!

In retrospect, you DO feel that you only NEEDED to do it once; in that you can never really go back to your old way of thinking and seeing the world. But at the time, the experience is so profound to you that you REALLY want to do it again. And I agree with Janette in this thread: my SECOND trip was much more enjoyable, and that's where the die was cast. But I did it a second time because of the possibilities I glimpsed the first time. And you do eventually reach a point where you say to yourself "I've learned these lessons now. They were great. But I also learned some great lessons in the fourth grade, and I didn't have to repeat it."

I agree about the massive brainwashing of the commercials. I ignore all of them on here and on the TV. George was ahead of his time and saw much more than we do.

Like so many young people, Randy R, you apparently think the world started the day you arrived. Trust me, everyone has always hated and complained about commercials. And George must have thought he was telling us something we didn't already know too. Commercials are louder than the shows and most feature inane songs we could do without ever hearing.

I don't think common sense or stating the obvious should be described as "ahead of his time" and "seeing more than we do". George was a regular fun guy with regular thoughts (as proved by this video) who got lucky playing and writing music, no need to pretend he was more than he was.

When all my friends were in love with Paul, my love was George. I never understood why Paul was called "the cute Beatle" when George was so gorgeous. My first child was born on February 25, George's birthday, and every year on her birthday, I tell her how happy she made me by coming into the world on that day.

Camila de Lira After a while in the Beatles, Paul and George didn't go very well together. Different personalities. I don't believe George was that fan of Paul's music. I don't think he fancied the entertainer side of Paul - and that he held a grudge against him. George wasn't just nice to everybody - all of the time.
@hellsjamfleas6 жыл бұрын
In the book 'You Never Give Me Your Money' the author says that that interview was at the time George had discovered that Paul was getting a higher pay from EMI on Beatle songs. George had a grudge with EMI anyway. He felt that it was a kind of betrayal on Paul's part. It played into old grievances about George feeling undervalued and Paul's hatred for their old manager so it was just a low point rather than a long built hostility.

Harrison should try listening to his own albums. All things must pass excepted, they are absolutely dire. Basically, he used up his stockpile of songs on that album and had little else of interest to offer from then on in. And as for that Wilbury MOR muzak, oh dear. At least when McCartney pulls his finger out and tries he can still write a tune.

I was 11 when I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in early 1964. I was immediately transfixed by them and they filled my emotional life for the next 5 years. Thank you for posting whenever you can find all this is going on when I was 13 14 15 years old here I am 66 and I'm just now seeing this for the first time. We had access to so little back then and KZbin has opened all of this up for us and for the rest of the younger generations. There will never be such a phenomena as the Beatles.

I never really thought of George being The Quiet Beatle. Like when all 4 Beatles were in an interview or something, George would always come out with something quick and witty! He gave such interesting interviews! I really think that George was very intelligent and a deep thinker.. He surely played that lead guitar extremely well! Fortunately all four of the Beatles had perfect pitch.
