Holy crap I thought this interview was in 1968 😂 Georgie hadn't aged a day here!!

I think George looked older in the mid-70's when he appeared on SNLive than he does here.

@@tomster927 It was his hair. He had a perm and it was growing out by then.

See the 'Mad Day Out' photo session from July 28, 1968. Clean-shaven and hair a little longer like here. His '66 cut was still more mop-top than 'hippie'-length.

the dating of the interview sure fooled me because I thought this was circa 1968 must be his hairstyle :)

@@IMEMINE. George wrote a song called Devil's Radio, these days, the devil's radio is the internet. Oh, if George was here to see it.....

"Past is gone now cant stop that recall and future is not, may not be at all, but present is" Brilliant! Not sure if George penned that or not but still what an intellect to pull that prose out at the perfect time. Also this guy lets George talk, most interviewers cut him off when George is the middle of expressing an interesting and deep thought. Nice interview!

Seems to be penned by Harrison... I think his son used that in his song All About Waiting.

I think they were a bit threatened by his talent. They gave him such a small quota which I think was a money situation from the sale of the albums and royalties and such. He was amazing though.

He looks like he just stepped out of the "White Album" photos. As for theose who bash Lennon/McCartney for holding him back, even he admits he didn't write anything worthy until 1966 and then it was only a song or two. Near the end he was starting to catch up, but by then it was too late.

To a Degree it did, He was quite Happy to Be a Beatle from 58-66 but when he started doing more writing and there were songs that he was writing that was BETTER than Lennon and McCartney's and they kept getting Rejected by George Martin Of Course he was Pissed Off and Felt (as I feel and many other people feel) He was being Held Back..

Why would George be depressed when he was the best Lead Guitar Player in the world and he actually taught John Lennon how to play guitar, i saw that video George tells it like it is "Paul is a Dick" Did i mention George Banged Patti Boyd when John Lennon couldn't??

Lennon had McCartney (and vica versa) listening to his stuff intently, both working on stuff together, and George Martin listened with open ears to their stuff so it was easier for them. But still waters run deep. George had no-one but himself and had to dig deep into his self belief & confidence because the two egos weren't gonna to dig to find it. I'm sure his self worth as a writer/musician would have been tested in this not so welcoming atmosphere. It would have destroyed a weaker character.

Although obviously not one of the main vocalists, your mathematics are a bit off. 12 official Beatle albums (UK), George sang lead on 28 Beatles songs ( he wrote 22 of those).

George Harrison wrote taxman, while my guitar gently weeps , here comes the sun and one of the greatest Beatle's tracks long long long. His solo album all things must pass was also great. Although his output was less prolific than Lennon-Mccartney, you have to remember that they were two of the greatest songwriters in history. When you compare George Harrison's output to the bulk of garbage that gets produced in popular music, he stacks up pretty well.

Fair enough, but wouldn't say he was better that the other two. He wrote 'while my guitar gently weeps' and 'something' which were two top 10 Beatles songs. To say he was better based on just 2 great songs isn't justifiable.

People always said they used to keep him out, but they encouraged him like mad, until it got to the white album, then he started to get underrated and held back.
