Country music today is garbage, true country music like this is priceless. Country music died in the 1980's. I grew up listening to George, Waylon, Willie, Merle, and Hank. Today's country music could never come close to the true country music of George Jones.

“George Jones’ voice was a rowdy Saturday night uproar at a back-street beer joint, the heartbroken wail of the one who wakes up to find the other side of the bed empty, the far-off lonesome whistle of the midnight train, the memories of a half-asleep old man dreaming about the good old days. . . He sang for us all, the non-stop partiers, the guys who are alone and the girl done wrong,....... George had a song for everybody.” Charlie Daniels

It goes without saying that George Jones was perhaps the best country singer ever HOWEVER, he also had backup singers and musicians who were second to none and they gave him the distinctive George Jones sound that is so easily recognizable.

There's something about this song I just love, even to this day... it was the third single released from "I am what I am" album. And even though it peaked at # 8 on the US Billboard charts, next to "He Stopped loving Her Today", it is one of my all time favorites of the Possum.

@DarthMorbius1977 - I would agree, This is REAL Country! However I don't agree that it died in the 80's, because in my opinion it will NEVER die! Hank Williams died 60 years ago and we still talk about him! And when you think about it, Waylon was putting out Music until 2000, George and Merle are STILL out there singing songs, and 60 years from now they will still know who these guys were. Excellence NEVER dies!!!

ummmm dunno about that- my dad played George - n n Elvis n PINK FLOYD he was everywhere- Mom played Sunday Afternoon Piano music- and church was where we lived for music---- but something spoke to me in his music from a little bitty girl, singing White Lightnin when I could barely walk...much to my mama's chagrin! Later his music spoke to me while I was drinking...he sang my life- we lived vicariously "together" and in the end sobered up- and lived well...God I miss this man...Fly Easy George
