When we're talking about George's level of performance we're talking about this extremely rare combination of a huge amount of talent coupled with unswerving commitment and excellent character. "Just practice" will probably get you near the metronome markings BUT it will take a certain ATTITUDE to get you anywhere near that guy's overall level! Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.

I have seen the dvd from a friend of mine 15 years ago and I still remember the excitement i felt when I watched it!

Adding to Jampis' explanation: when triggered (haha, pun) the trigger sends an electronic signal to the soundboard or w/e so regardless of the softness/loudness of the hit, you hear it. It doesn't make you go faster because you still have to hit the drum to trigger it, but it allows bass drums, for example, to be heard clearly at the speeds these guys play at.

Il genere che ama e che suona richiede questo modo di suonare, non è palestra. Se non ti piace non commentare e basta.

It's a little device that you put on the rimb/part of the drumhead that let you modify/enhance the acoustic sound in a electronic way. Hard to explain, it's a device that kind of makes an acoustic drum in to an electronic one. Or at least partially. Does that make any sense?

Yea its a must buy no joke. Everything is really simple, for instance... I knew nothing about different notes but just from watching this I can tell 16th notes from say 16th note triplets and so on... as for the exercises, difficult to master but VERY effective. Buy and you won't regret. I don't. oh and its a pretty long dvd maybe 2+ hours without the special features or so?

The pattern George uses here is different from Derek's. Derek's has the left foot going in threes, George just does it side to side in twos.

Actually you probably don't know who would win first, that would be very close, but again.... That's not the point. I would like to see George CREATE a jazz drum solo and have a drum battle with Steve Gadd or Dave Weckl, while they create their own as well. And then you might say vice versa but speed and power doesn't mean everything in drumming, it's rather technique, style, accented rhythm, grooves, melody, etc. And like I said before, I'm not trying to diss George, he's absolutely amazing.
@JayBennett197314 жыл бұрын
@faithandpractice right.. but i tried his foot technique with a cheap tj percussion pedal...it does not work.i cant get that whipping motion going with iit.i think george would say ...damn you need some new equiptment..

Don't push it that far.... He might be the best mathcore drummer out there/death metal, and yes he is very good at keeping odd time signatures and very fast rhythms, but think of how many other styles of drumming are out there, think of drumming as an art and a skill, not just a skill
