A typical day at work rehearsing some "new album" tracks for the upcoming tour. I will post some full songs after the album is out. Hope you like it :-)

This guy could record a drums only album and I would love it. The fineness is uncanny.

GRAZIE

Hey man I'd really appreciate it if you could answer this question for me? At the minute I'm using chain pedals, in this video it looks like you're using direct drive. I've heard great things about direct drive and debating on getting them myself, so what are the benefits from using direct drives?

Nile is the greatest death metal band of all time but lost me after Annihilation of the wicked. just doesn't have that like "where did these guys come up with this shit" type of deal but they still hold their musical talent maybe just not the writing. I know it isnt the original line up. All this shit bein said George you are still the man i will always love Nile and goin to see em in January first time since Ithyphallic came out.
@williamdarkzydeblackenedha93448 жыл бұрын
ithyphallic is a good album, on par with annihilation I'd say, but I'm with you, those whom the gods detest was different than those. I can say the new album goes back to that annihilation type of sound tho, it's badass.

So why don't the drums sound like this on the album? :(

Amazing drumming as usual but this snare sounds weak
@HabAnagarek9 жыл бұрын
adamagedone Sounds oddly muffled - I wonder if mixed to sound like that?
@adamagedone9 жыл бұрын
HabAnagarek Unfortunately the snare in the album isn't much different (at least in the songs they released), the blast beats sound drowned and muffled which is a real shame...
@renshammar9 жыл бұрын
+adamagedone I listened to the song Call to Destruction just now, and the snare is barely there at all. As you said, a real shame :(
@gkdrummer9 жыл бұрын
+adamagedone I tune my snare lower than i did in the past cause it sounds great on recordings, i prefer it like that much more although it makes your life harder to play fast on the kit. It's not muffled at all, there is a single piece of moon-gel there and thats all, so i would say it's pretty open, just tuned lower.

I went to a drum camp this summer and took a class with Mike Mangini, and he told the class about how he went to George's place and tried playing his pedals, and he noticed that no matter how hard he tried to play them, he always got a tiny, soft hit for how close they were to the head and how tight they were and Mike was all, "GEORGE!!! GET OVER HERE! LET ME SEE YOUR FEET!!!"😨😨😨

This is not George Kollias, this is God

I like hearing the tone and mix evolve through different Nile albums. I loved the snare tone on Detest, Ithyiphallic and Annihilation. I REALLY loved the toms on Detest. Sethu had a great raw sound that you don't hear much nowadays in metal. In general though I do prefer the higher-tuned snare.
@stevengarcia8428 Жыл бұрын
I think George will get even more credit if his snare was tuned higher. It always sounds flat

I wonder how GK avoids injuries. One wrong move and a tour could become torture. P.S.: The last two Nile albums have more metal tropes than usual. I understand why some people might like it, but AOTW, ITDS, Ithyphallic and TWTGD will always be my favourite kind of Nile. Permitting The Noble Dead To Descend To The Underworld is the best metal song of all time in my opinion. And AOTW (entire album) makes every other metal band sound bland and repetitive.
@williamdarkzydeblackenedha93448 жыл бұрын
annihilation is a masterpiece for sure. that was the first I heard of them, instant fan.
