Yeah man tell me about it. But if you can play double pedal 16th notes for at least 160 bpm then you’re two feet is faster than his one feet cause if he’s two feet is 300 bpm for 16th notes his one feet 16th notes will only be a 150 so yeah get to 160 you’ll be fine

I've been playing , over 40 years, I can't play like George kolias, I was doing really cool double bass in the 80s and 90s ,,but nothing like this more like Neil peart , Deen castranovo, George is on another level , I loved joey jordisons playing , road runner united sessions is really good , the reason I commented is it sounds like his drum heads on the toms are loose ?

If drumming is like speaking, then each genre is a different language. Blastbeats is Nile’s dialect. A jazz drummer can’t do blastbeats, it’s not in his vocabulary. And vice versa. If one has the time to learn another language, great. But I think a silent appreciation for another’s skill is better than insulting each other for speaking a different language, right? ...be cool, not a tool. 🙂

People must now nothing of common logic. HOW CAN YOU PLAY AT HIGH SPEEDS WITHOUT TRIGGERS ITS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. Also triggers are more exact so if your off beat it's easy to tell versus regular bass is a little more muddy. Also they use triggers because they are playing so fast the beater doesn't have time to fully go back and get enough inertia or force to make a loud sound, there is barely any time to take the beater back in that amount of milliseconds at high speeds. So the trigger makes it audible.
@The218nexion
@The218nexion 9 жыл бұрын
xseq xqwe Sebastian techchannel Triggers are used for sound, not speed. Without triggers it would sound like splashing mud. So triggers make it audible but have nothing to do with skill or speed of the drummer.

Are you forgetting about quality of drums and pedals? You CAN drum that fast with practice and the right equipment. The quality of a drum can also distinguish how it sounds, how long the notes resonate, so think before you say he is amazing at what he does and made something of it, he became a legend and a hero to drummers including myself.
@DoggoWillink
@DoggoWillink 9 жыл бұрын
You can say it a million times, there are just people who hate triggers for whatever reason, and will always continue to (and they'll always comment about it, even on videos of insane drummers).

Most of you in this post are not correct. George doesn't use triggers. He is all power and precision. The clarity that you hear is from the gate and compression ratios, along with EQ. Every time George kicks, the beater comes back a full 45 degrees. He is a machine that uses skill instead of technologies. Watch any of his clinics, and he talks about the non-use of triggers specifically. He shows people in person how to get the sound and speed that he does. He developed the "circle" technique to aid in his playing to keep himself balanced, yet provide power and speed with the use of efficiency of motion.

I saw Nile headline last year among a bunch of respectable death metal bands. They played some pretty fast shit and I'm impressed (one was a local band). Then George shows up. The first three drummers all had triggers. He blows them out of the water for speed mic'ed up and blast blastbeats not only faster but louder than all the rest. His kicks are on a nuclear level and his blast beats are god-tier. What an amazing creature!

George, your tom hits seem to be very silent and insignificant.
@Villex93
@Villex93 10 жыл бұрын
It's not that, you can't get much power to them in those speeds. Without triggers, sampling or mic tricks it's not possible to get a hard sounding hit. Also the volume of the toms is just simply too low.
@Vaginaattori
@Vaginaattori 10 жыл бұрын
i noticed the same thing. sounds actually very weak. that's what you get for focusing only on one thing.

Vaginaattori ''that's what you get for focusing only on one thing.'' ? He just has the volume of the toms really low and compression too. It's not like others can hit much harder at same speeds.

I used to think George was basic except for his speed. I could see he had chops, but didn't understand what made him a great and unique player. But the last time I saw him live I realized how wrong I was. Nobody in extreme metal plays their cymbals like George does. His cymbal work is the best in the business.

Ive come to like Nile over the years, (used to hate them) but I still dont think George writes to his fullest potential. He repeats the same fills over and over again. He needs to really stop trying to cram as many notes into fills as possible, if he just slowed them down they would still fit within the songs and actually add something instead of filler. This can be seen near the halfway to end mark when he adds some more tastier fills and ideas. Almost every single fill starts on the snare for him. This is what excludes him from the "best" he needs to change it up

+howycwap Yesterday i watched a blues music video and I wrote "Oh please, why bluesman always has to play the same three chords over and over again? Why don't you change, I don't know like speed it up and add some distortion to the guitar or add double pedal to the drum? It's such a bore!" Then I watched a progressive metal video and I wrote "Why so many time changes? And why do you play so complicated music? It would be better to play more simple stuff and with less virtuosism" Then I watched a classical music video and I wrote "Why so classical? Change it up!"

This is George Kollias. He has a degree in jazz drumming. He has a DVD set that has sold thousands of copies called Extreme Metal Drumming. He knows how to write his music. Explain every single thing he is doing. No 16 year old on earth has had enough time in life to do half of what George has done. He's an expert. He knows his rudiments, and can play any style of drums. You obviously know nothing about him, so of course because you can't even comprehend the true rudiments, and technical drumming on display here, you say something stupid. Learn more about somebody before you compare him to a 16 year old. This guy is a millionaire because of his drumming abilities. That's all that needs to be said other than you are without question a fucking idiot. Bring it, I'm here all day, everyday. You piss me off when you just act as if what you just saw is something easy. Before you come back with, shut up dumbasses. Why don't you do some research, and then admit like a man that you couldn't have been more wrong. Because you could not be more wrong, you dumbasses fucking idiot. Please be the guy. I'm looking for someone to unleash alot of pinned up rage and anger on. I'm fucking sick if people like you. And I will meet you somewhere. Fucking moron.

+laertesdd he is not replying to anyone. He is saying a talentless 1 year old could play that. You do making sure Shit before you call me out. I am this style of drumming. Have since I remember life. Went all the way through school learning my rudiments and playing very technical snare drum. So when it came to playing speed metal, or death metal. It was just a matter of time before I felt right at home playing the drum set Ambidextrous. That makes a huge difference in the great and the greatest. Being able to play ambidextrously. Either way. Any time, any speed. So many more beats and insane blast beats are at your disposal. It takes time. But Georgeb Kollias being compared to a talentless 16 year old, angers me. It's shows the ignorance in the person who made that comments. It's so wrong that it's not even worth one more word about how stupid it is.!

It means saying something again that wasn't originally said by you for example a quote from Louis Sullivan rewritten in "Form Follows Function" - Louis Sullivan the [ -Louis Sullivan >>means
