Their production is way too small to justify ignoring him. So what if you had to reshoot the scene! Lucas already technically ruined it by being in the shot anyway. At a bare minimum, to maintain the integrity of the shot, the editor should've blurred Lucas' face.

If you watch a little longer you will see that there were people that the camera man needed to avoid which caused the shift to the left of the speaker. You see the speaker move left too, and in a few seconds you see the three people who were in his way. You can also gauge this by the tiles in the side walk, by looking where the commentator was walking, where he shifted to, and where the group of people were. A cameraman walking backwards is typically guided by a person who is keeping him/her from walking into someone.

The way Geroge did this proves he's an amzing director. How he slides into view as close to the host as possible, and looks at the camera for a second to give us what we want. However, he doesnt smile, he doesn't start walking forward or stop walking towards the door or even make a sound. That way we'll always keep questioning if he did it on purpose and keep coming back to analyze and discuss his work.
