@matth1j3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I hadn't seen this before, and was expecting age to have taken its toll, as it has (understandably) on many singers from that era, and later. Plus he's singing live - there's often a big difference between a track that's come out of the recording studio and a live version of it. So what he does here is fantastic. And well done Jools for bringing it to us.

This was my grandma's favorite song. She had a really difficult life (unfortunately, her alcoholism and mental illness brought quite a lot of hardship during my mother's childhood), but as a grandmother, she was the most wonderful human alive- even with her problems. Her birthday was Valentine's Day. She passed away almost 4 years ago. For so long this song was unlistenable. It was masochistic to listen to. But now I feel nothing but joy from it. Thank you George, for making an old woman happy, and for making me see that we shouldn't concentrate on death and sadness. Life's a garden, dig it. This song's for you, Patty.

Good Evening Mr McCrae. It is said that within 15 seconds, an audience can assess if the artist is singing the song from their heart. Also, for a song to be truly meaningful the music must compliment the lyrics and the artist must ‘read’ the audience to enhance it further. In this performance, Mr McCrae does all of the above. We salute you.
