Not sure bubble is the term he's looking for. Sounds like he is referring to saturation. If an industry has a successful product, so they devote excessive resources to it , stop innovation, and just flood the market with that one product and/derivatives of it. Then they end of oversaturating the market, the public experience fatigue and a once profitable product dies. But that doesn't have to happen. Plenty of franchises have been around for decades with no sign of going away, because their owners watched trends and knew how/when to release more editions. Think james bond, star trek. Star wars is a good example of what happens to IP when you oversaturate your audience with subpar content

By far, the best decision HBO could make right now is to roll some of these piches (Aegon's conquest, the Blackfyre Rebellions, Dunk & Egg, Robert's Rebellion) into House of the Dragon. -The title is a perfect fit for the entire history of the Targaryen dinasty -If you make it all into one show, you don't run the risk of dilluting the brand with 8 shows being aired simultaneously, or even worse, making people feel like you are forcing this I.P. down their throats -If it's all contained to one show, you don't run the risk of turning HBO (literally the most prestigious cable network) into "the Game of Thrones channel". AMC went that route, after starting out with stuff like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. Does anyone watch AMC nowadays? -And of course, with George working on a single show instead of 8, he might make some fucking time to write that book he's been meaning to write. As for the other piches (the Thousand Ships, Corlys, Yi-Ti), you might as well chuck 'em in the garbage. NO ONE wants to see that shit.

I can very much appreciate George's distracted mindset, his romance with celebrity, and his desire to expand his properties. I can understand a reasonable hiatus from the core work, or even a need to step back from everything and breathe. I get that. However, George is not a child of spring. George is a elder of winter. His time is counted in years, not decades. And while he objectively owes nothing to anyone beyond that for which he is contractually obligated, my subjective feeling is that the author and the reader are bound by an implicit compact: I afford you your lifestyle, you keep me swimming in dragons, swords, and the political machinations of colorful characters. I wish the man every good thing, but I have personally sworn off everything else he has ever produced, will produce, or is in the process of producing, pending the release of the remain two books in Ice and Fire. I can't bring myself to care about any of his other endeavors until the core literary series is complete. Period. This is the time to consider legacy.

The house of the dragon made martin too comfortable and the prospects of the other spinoffs being successful will make martin feel like he always has a safety net and an excuse to not finish winds of winter. Also even if the other spinoffs are good . They'll still never be able to make people completely forget about how bad season 8 was.

Rather than the show being called "Snow", I'm confident that it'll be called something akin to "Winds of Winter", and it'll feature all the omitted or dropped book plots and characters. They're going to tell the story properly. It's what George wants. Golden Empire Of The Dawn, Aegon Taragreyen, Jon Connington, House Dayne, House Reed, Garland Tyrell, Arienne Martell, the Hightowers in Oldtown, The Ghost of Highheart, Lady Stoneheart, the Skagos plot, Val and Jon, Jon being Robb's heir, Marwyn The Maege, the oringal Night’s King (aka Bloodstone Emperor) and Queen, Aryra in Essos, Quaith, book Euron's entire plot (which will have to be transferred onto Victarion, since HBO already killed Euron off), the importance of magic horns, moon meteors, all the layered symbology. Basically, everything that D&D couldn't be arsed to give us, plus everything that happneds in WOW and ADOS. It's not going to be all new material when they left out most of story and have pretty much the entire thing, arguably all the best parts still left on the table. It very much feels the point of all these spin offs is to set up the "big bad" (ideally in an animated Long Night / Golden Empire show) that will be a running plotline through all the spin offs, so Jon can vanquish it all right at the very end of the story.

It's not only profitable. It's needs to be able to beat the stock market. Studios are there to make money and not art. For them, to be a succesfull movie, the movie needs to make more money that they would make if they invested in stocks instead of making the movie. This makes me sick.

@@OfficialRedTeamReview With that line of thinking it's easy for studio executive to justify the way they treat workers. Defending the right to make the most money possible at any cost leads to underpaid artist/workers, bland movies and potentialy having AI writting movies from start to finish to save cost. It use to be that studio would "gamble" when came time to produce movies. They would give chances to people and sometime it would pay off and sometime not. But in the end, they would make their money back because when something like the first starwars happens, they would make more then 70 times their investment. Now they dont want to bet anymore, so when they find a cash cow that they can milk dry and then keep milking. That's why there is so many reboots/sequels/remake etc. They want their investment to be as safe as possible. So they dont take risks and they settle for the most palatable, least challenging movie possible. With that in mind, do you think studios nowaday would have greenlight a movie like the first starwars back in the day? Not a chance. Who would have tought in 1977 that a movie about space wizzards fighting a faschist empire would become what it is today, nobody. Movies made with the goal of making the most money possible end up beeing things like the last starwars trilogy. A movies mostly made by studio executive to capitalised on our nostalgia for starwars. Now, you can defend the studios all you want, but then dont make videos complaining about the result of their work.

With hollywood, due to inflation, movies which made only a couple million many decades ago would be the equivalent of many billions today. Like gone with the wind made 4 billion adjusted for inflation, and star wars 1977 made 3.4billion etc. So there have been massive hits before in hollywood and its nothing new if you adjust for inflation.

11:20 - Well, usually there's the actual cost of making the movie and then the marketing budget. And the marketing is usually about the same as making the movie. So a movie usually has to make twice the price of its creation to break even because that is including both making the actual movie and all of the money spent on things like marketing it.

It's just interesting how the superhero fatigue just happened to coincide with Marvels intention to put forward more 'representation' and figured diversity bingo would qualify as character building. The main issue for such a fatigue to set in is when the creators think too easily of the story and figure they can work on auto-pilot, thus underestimating the audience. I don't think HBO (or at least George) underestimates the ASOIAF audience. As long as they take it very seriously there's plenty of mileage in the tank. The moment that changes though... things will fall down quickly.
@7PlayingWithFire711 ай бұрын
I mean DC failed too, and it didn't have any representation stuff going on. So I doubt that. I don't care about the wokeness. I do care about how they don't take their time and make good products. Shang-chi is great, and it's post-endgame
@HoofHearted8811 ай бұрын
@@7PlayingWithFire7 Shang-Chi is also awful in my opinion. But my point is about the laziness and the wokeness replacing characterisation. In today's society women aren't allowed to be vulnerable anymore, as that's supposedly sending out a wrong signal. Women have to be strong. So that means no weakness to overcome, leading to a film like Captain Marvel, where the entire point of the story was that the entire world only had to realise how awesome Carol was. She didn't have to change, no, everyone else did. It's the principal Skinner meme on film. The point about the representation is that it overtakes priority over story. Films need to have diverse cast members, but the diverse cast members aren't allowed to be dominated. If someone has to be dominated, it has to be the white guy. If there's no villainous white guy to dominate, the villain also has to be misunderstood. All that diversity bingo spoils any form of storytelling. Character no longer takes first priority. And when character isn't the main priority, what even is there to get invested in as an audience? That is why Hollywood has alienated itself from their base. None of Marvels Phase 4 and beyond characters are like Iron Man or Captain America. They're all interchangable on paper. None of them stand out. What's there to care about?

There is no reason for George to finish ASoIaF. He is being recognized as a literary genius As long as the series he created goes unfinished he can keep that reputation. He has no intention of finishing the series. The only reason KZbin content creators don’t acknowledge that is because their fate is now tied to George. Best we can hope for is George changes his mind and taps a couple of ghost writers to complete his story when he’s gone. It ain’t gonna be completed by George tho. He’s gonna ride into the sunset and leave his fans praying for something that he knows will never come. 😂

Look, I know we all love the books, that's why we're still talking about them over a decade after the last one was released, but it's time to move on. There are so many great completed fantasy series out there, some of which inspired Martin to write ASOIAF in the first place, that there's no reason to keep hoping that WoW will ever come out. Find other stuff to obsess over, and if he actually does release WoW, then it will be a nice bonus. We all know that there won't be any after that anyway, so there's no chance we actually get to see the conclusion of ASOIAF unless it's written by someone else.
