I also wondered, that he planned only 62 Chapters in the Google Drive Document. George has said the Battle of Ice and the Battle of Fire will happen at the BEGINNING of the Book and Preston just added the Theon sample chapter, which takes Place before the Battle of Ice. But maybe the 62 Chapters are just a placeholder, because I think Winds has to have more Chapters than Storm or Dance, at least 80-90.

Neither Abercrombie or Sanderson could finish asoiaf. I think sure Abercrombie is more like big George on a surface level, because it's gritty dark fantasy, but what he writes is nowhere near the scale or scope of what George does. He doesn't get close in amount of concurrent plot lines and locations and pov characters and all that. He is extremely character driven, I don't see him bothering to handle all the plot threads and unsolved mysteries in ice and fire
@chriss40012 күн бұрын
The only reason anyone brings up Sanderson is he finished Wheel lf Time when Robert Jordan died. It's a complete lack of imagination that so many go to suggest Sanderson when he's not right for the job on account of his religious beliefs and not being a very good writer.

@chriss4001 yup, anyone who's read asoiaf and at least 1 or 2 Sanderson books should be able to see he is not right for job. I absolutely think he would have the ability to pick up all the plot threads and characters, examine the story on a mechanical level, and formulate a satisfying outline, but his style and execution would not be a fit. Abercrombie on the other hand would have better ability in capturing the grit and tone of the world through the writing, and could do amazing work with the characters, but even then he is nowhere near as descriptive and detailed as George, and I don't think he could, or would want to wrap up such an expansive and complex story Somewhere in another timeline Sando will put together an outline and Joe will do the actual writing, I don't think it will ever happen here though

1:16:33 Moonman (of the Renly Peach theory) does have a theory about Brandon and Lyanna's statues actually. He posits that Ned was secretly disinherited and that he built the statues as a way to gain legitimacy and strengthen the fait accompli of him being the lord now. I am not convinced, but just pointing out that a theory does exist. 1:49:09 Preston, I am pretty sure that picture is meant to be Duncan vs the Laughing Storm, not the Trial of the Seven. @nont184114 күн бұрын
The point of the story was that Toranaga is such a Machiavellian genius that he managed to win the war before the battle even started. If we look closely at the story, he already won in episode 9 when Mariko died so the battle part was unnecessary. It’s like this in the book as well. Everything is set and done and the battle is just one last paragraph. Not everything needs bombastic showdown like Game of Thrones.

Also Preston: Dedicated his entire channel to one of the most nihilistic tales known for killing off heroes in a disgraceful way while making the ultimate winner being an incel pedophile who betrays everyone and grooms a traumatized girl whose family got brutally murdered.
