The table scene with Steinbrenner's back should have been dubbed by Larry David and then returned to Steinbrenner's real voice when they swap. I love Elaine's Steinbrenner rant as well!

This scene is actually hilarious lol. The restaurant scene is genius, they switch seats, they catch the audience off guard (given that they don't show the earlier scene in the yankee stadium with the real steinbrenner) - then when they switch seats, Elaine starts wailing her arms around and talking real fast like steinbrenner does while the real steinbrenner seats there in silence. They should've used this!

While I can completely understand why the Steinbrenner scenes were never used (I get that he wasn't an actor, and comedy is all about timing), what saddens me is the fact that, as a result of not using "The Boss's" scenes, one of Laney's greatest performances on the show (that final scene is gold, Jerry, GOLD!), never saw the light of day as well. This was actually a deleted scene from Seinfeld when George Costanza was working with the New York Yankees. @@whompronnie I never bought Larry David's explanation. Buck Showalter was way worse than Steinbrenner and they used his clip. It's forgotten now, but at the time, there was some talk that George may have violated confidentiality by blabbing details of his appearance on the nationally syndicated "The Fabulous Sports Babe" radio show before the episode aired. If true, that would be a reason why they cut him, because if artistic considerations were the key, JL-D's rant alone would have justified keeping George in.

It's not amazing. It's not professional. It's not as good as Larry David's Steinbrenner. But it's pretty decent for a non-actor. Not as good as Paul O'Neill but no worse than Keith Hernandez. @@cisium1184 His first scene was pretty bad. He's not terrible for someone who's not a professional actor, but for a perfectionist like Larry David, it would never pass muster. Whether the show ran short or long, they were right to cut the scenes out. The overall chemistry and comedic value just simply don’t measure up to the standard of Seinfeld. They wrote these lines for Steinbrenner to be spoken in a similar manner to the way Larry David did it. The real Steinbrenner was slow and his rhythm was off. It was supposed to be a quick fire erratic style the way Larry David did it like boom boom boom: “ that’s nonsense young lady, you’re coming with me, we’re going to have a good time, you lose a little weight, will dance, it’ll be great...” etc. Rapid fire-style. But hey, Steinbrenner wasn’t an actor so you can’t really fault him much.
