You are correct, George Strait did define what was Country music from the early 80's and thru the 90's. Alan Jackson, Randy Travis and even Garth Brooks owe their success to the following that George Strait started.

Sorry, about the whiskey. 😂 And of course I want your honest and true opinion. I was actually laughing my ass off. 😂 Thank you for the reaction! And it’s the first really bad German whiskey I’ve sent you. And like I said, the options are kinda limited. So I’m sorry again! I hope the beer is making up for it and the chocolate too. But now I know why that whiskey was so cheap. 😂😂 I hope you are enjoying the rest of that package and you wimminz too. And Dustin! Your German was fantastic! Wow! I understood you perfectly! There's a reason he has a greatest hits album with 50 number ones on it and it required a sequel with 22 more great hits on it. I think those came out in the late 90s or early 00s. He could probably do one more at this point.

I favor George's early songs, but then, I'm closer to his age, too. Blame it on Mexico and Marina Del Rey are two of my favorites. In the late 70's, the beer joints were packed when Ace in the Hole came to play. Barely any room on the dancefloor.

Here's another suggestion for another artist I believe you've reacted to before and seemed to enjoy their tunes. So, if interested give this one a listen. "Jonny Paycheck - The Old Violin" (by the channel: Johnny Paycheck -Topic) --Jonny Paycheck was an American country music singer/songwriter and Grand Ole' Opry member. He achieved his greatest success in the 1970's as a force in country music's "Outlaw Movement" popularized by artists such as Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Meryl Haggard just to name a few. 💯

George Strait served in the Army from 71-75. He enlisted at a infantryman. He was turned down by every label in Nashville, saying he was to country. MCA made him a single deal and it went to number 6, in 1981. So they considered doing an album.

You nailed it when you said George Strait defined country for a whole generation. He's always been my personal definition of what I consider country. Randy Travis and Alan Jackson could also fit in there as having a similar influence. It's why I started losing interest in mainstream country when it started changing around 2004 and why I can't stand post 2012 mainstream country in general. For the most part, it's no longer the country I always knew and loved. Btw, glad you guys enjoyed this song! One of my all time favorites.

George Strait is absolutely the standard by which all Country Music is judged. I'm 38 and you are 100% correct, if it's ain't like George it ain't Country. It doesn't matter if you're standing next to 110,000 other people (He holds the record for largest stadium crowd) or in a small local rodeo or beer hall, he sounds exactly the same. Any recording from this concert is great. You guys absolutely need to react to George Strait - The Chair. Preferably going in blind.
