+TeguBuzz how's that vid coming along ? can't wait to see it. Sorry I couldn't get a chance to reply. My young tort got a prolapsed blabber and rectum. I had to take him to the vet. He got the organs pushed in a long with a couple of stitches. I'm hoping for a fast recovery.
@TeguBuzz8 жыл бұрын
+Guz Paniagua Don't think I'll be posting it man, things aren't going to well in quarantine for it. I have some other vids coming soon though. George is being taken into the vet again come Tuesday, the vet said he was all clear the first time around but wanted to monitor this slight wheezing sound but didn't suspect RI at first. It hasn't gotten any better so I'm beginning to think it is. At first we thought it could be due to the fact that his nares are somewhat rubbed, but it seems like a very early yet long-lasted RI he has.

I have a tortoise like this... When I was 3 I went to a museum and bought it. The tortoise lives with my grandparents.... when I was little we didn't even know he would get big..he's 8 now. I saw one of his breed in the zoo and I'm like... WHAT. I have no idea how we're going to take care of him when he grows bigger.

I think if all those tortoises are allowed to graze on that St Augustine grass, it will struggle to thrive. I've been there. Granted, my lawn was much smaller, but I only have the one tortoise. Mine loves any kind of elm leaves. Drake Elm and American Elm especially, and they have tons of leaves through summer. Grape leaves and morning glory also. If you can find some elm trees, they are a good source of food. You have very nice animals, and a great yard for them. When I croak, you can have my friend, Rocky. I don't know who will take care of him like I do. Good luck to you.

Sulcata's naturally have the ability to live and thrive on a lower protein and high fiber diet. 75% of their diet is grass... Bermuda is generally the one offered/planted by most sulcata owners. The rest of their diet consists of offering prickly pear, dandelions, dark greens and a few other items.

I live in the UK and I know it sucks! But I have a tortoise, not a massive one like George though mine live's under a heat lamp in the winter (he's a spur thigh male, I reccomend!) he's three years old. And in the summer, I have a built encloser. Nah, we have had nice weather so far though eh? 2019 summer. :)

I am fostering a salcuta for a friend who just bought her from his friend. I know nothing about turtles and neither does he. I noticed that in comparison to your turtles her she'll is very dull. Do I need to apply something to her shell or is something needed in her diet? BTW your turtles are beautiful
@daisynorth54654 жыл бұрын
They aren't turtles, they are tortoises. The different is simple: turtles have fins and live in the sea, tortoises live on land and have feet with nails.

@daisynorth54654 жыл бұрын
Tortoise's don't have a major standard of care mostly a soak in shallow water a week is good for hydration, food wise depends on the type of breed you get but for example my tortoise (which is a spur thigh, male) needs a variety of: fresh greens, baby gem lettuce, beansprouts etc. But as a special treat, I feed him a cut up strawberry. Not forgetting a high calcium powder to top here and again. And for you question about the yard, it really does depend whether you let them live in your garden (if they are old enough, as youngsters die in cold places as they don't get enough heat) or you build a encloser (or buy online) one that fits their size.

I'm new to this whole thing and I would like to own one of these puppies in the future, but I have two questions! One, is are they social creatures, do they need a partner or a mate? And two, do they bite? I know that if I were to handle one too rough or push it around I would, but do they bite in general? Thanks!
@HenryTheHedgeWizard7 жыл бұрын
Hailey Wood The general consensus is that they're not social. They likely don't benefit at all from having other tortoises around them. In terms of biting, I know they bite each other sometimes but I'm sure it depends on the species.
@TeguBuzz7 жыл бұрын
Hailey Wood It's quite hard to get bit by a Sulcata, but I won't say they don't. They more so just want to taste you, haha. As far as social, I wouldn't say so. My females tend to stick together but even then, not so much. They do not need a partner and would do 100% fine on their own.
