In June 2004, I had the privilege of spending some time with Jim Myers AKA George "The Animal" Steele. It became abundantly clear that Mr. Myers had a deep love for his wife, compassion for others, and a desire to live out the remainder of his life serving God. It is my wish that this never before seen clip serves as a tribute to the man who captured the imagination of so many people around the world.

George is a true hero in Madison Heights Michigan, where for years he was the athletic director/ football coach. To this day the football field is named after him, Jim Meyers Stadium.

When George started his career on the early 60's as 'The Student', he chose to wear a mask because back then pro wrestling was considered lowbrow and he did not wanted his employers at Madison Heights High School to know he was moonlighting as a wrestler.

When I went into the Navy in 1970, Pittsburgh WIIC TV used to have Studio Wrestling with Chilly Billy Cardille as MC...I remember Mr.Myers as George the Animal Steele but he wasn't the looney he acted like...at the time, he was just a badass wrestler...When I came back in the mid 70s, he had changed his character into the goofy type. But, I had heard interviews even back then with Mr.Myers using his real persona and really had respect. RIP Mr.Myers and thanks for the entertainment.

The Animal IMO goes down in history with th elikes of Gorgeous George. He was a great entertainer and only a dumb person would not realize that it took a brilliant man to pull off his character in Wrestling. George had reading difficulties. I did not. In fact, I was the second best reader in class in the first grade. Me and this cute red headed Portuguese girl named Mimi. But as a targeted and monitored child, the job of community watch and the technology that was tapping into us was to make us appear mentally ill and/or autistic. They had to give the board of education a reason as to why we were being monitored so they worked on us from day 1.

Giving your life to Christ is not how to be saved. Trusting in Jesus the "Eternal Son of God" who gave His life for you, is how to be saved. (If you think they are the same, then you don't understand the Gospel). Jesus does all the giving not us. Read Part 2 What is the Gospel of Christ?
@ronol4238
@ronol4238 Жыл бұрын
Part 2 What is the Gospel of Christ? The Prophet Isaiah wrote about the true Gospel given to him by God in the book of Isaiah. The Book of Isaiah was written between 701 and 681 B.C. God was manifest in the flesh with the miraculous virgin birth of Jesus Christ Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Matthew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Jesus made peace through the blood of his cross. The chastisement of our peace was upon him. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Jesus fulfilled this prophesy by His death on the cross, burial and resurrection There were many eyewitnesses to Jesus death on the cross and resurrection. 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. Jesus is the Christ the Eternal Son of God John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Salvation is the gift of God received by grace through faith, not by our works. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Salvation is completely relying on the redemptive work of Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. Salvation is trusting in God’s promises, trusting in his dear Son John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Colossians 1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: Salvation is in Christ alone John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Salvation is received by trusting in Jesus as your Saviour; believing the gospel of Christ John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. The beautiful saving gospel of Christ (Salvation from sin and Eternal Death) Summary: Trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior (Trust in His sacrifice on your behalf, shedding His blood on the cross and dying for your sins. Trust that Jesus' sacrifice paid the full price for your sins. Believe that Jesus is the Eternal Son of God who was buried and rose again the third day according to the scripture proving that His sacrifice was accepted by God.

He had dyslexia and probably had his tests read to him. When I met him in 2000 he still couldn’t write, I had to tell him how to spell my name on the autograph. He must have gone through school in the late 50’s to be teaching in the early 60s. He was lucky to have been diagnosed in that time period. Dyslexia was identified as a disorder in 1881.
