I think that's a very apt word. This is a lecture about a monster.

America will be a sick country as long as it reveres slave owners. They can not get a pass on this issue. No justification or excuse whatsoever. Tomorrow is July 4th. I, for one, find the celebration of Independence Day absurd. Getting rid of the British to replace them with slaveowners is mad. Britain ended slavery in 1807. The Civil War was 1862. Segregation endured for 80 years after, and we are still dealing with the effects. Had the British remained there would not have been a Civil War. The Founding Father's who had slaves should be removed from our notes and monuments. We need a modified form of de-"Nazification as was so effectively done in postwar Germany. Do not deny our history but do not revere monsters. In doing so, the country demeans itself and creates a societal sickness. Everyone, by the way should read about Robert Carter, who inherited the most slaves in the country in Virginia and by deed of manumission in 1791 freed them all over a period of time. Washington could have done that, too. He knew Carter and shunned him as did all the other slaveowners as they could not abide him for the example he had set. Put him on our notes!!!!!

@@Richard-hv5hhIf you lived in America, you wouldn’t think that. This was a great man that fathered a nation.
