One of the best things about Daze with Jordan is the fact that it doesn't really matter if filming is not permitted. The photography, combined with the informative narrative ensures the viewer feels as though he/she has actually visited the property. And what a property! The rich colors and fabrics give the impression you are inside a modern household. In fact the entire interior design gives a tremendous insight into the tastes and lifestyle of the Washington family. This is a great example of history coming to life. Many Thanks Jordan for taking the time to photograph and create this wonderful Vlog.

Another great video. We've been to Mt. Vernon about four times (we live in NC, wife is from VA) and the one thing that surprised me the first time I went was that it is not made of stone. It looks like masonry, but those are planks of wood with bevels cut in them to make them look like stone blocks. And they they painted it with paint that had a lot of sand in it, so it looks even more like limestone when painted. Learning that blew me away. Also, that green dining room, we were told, was painted that way to impress guests. It seems that the most expensive paint color to make and buy was green, so this was a real "in your face" decorating choice. By the way, you're not far from Montpelier, James Madison's home. Hope you're going to vlog that one. It's an interesting place, too. Also, Gunston Hall, George Mason's home, is not far from Mt. Vernon. And if you get a chance, go into Pohick Church, Washington's home church in Lorton. It's quite impressive. Keep up the good vidoes.

The key in the case was a key for The Bastelle in France 🇫🇷, after the destruction of it. The Marquette de Lafayette was like a son to President George Washington, and he gifted him the key on one of his visits to Mount Vernon Plantation 😀.

I've been to Mount Vernon twice and it is an amazing place. Very beautiful. Much of the White House is built to kind of resemble Mount Vernon. George Washington started the White House, but died before it was ever completed.

I visited there in 1979..really enjoyed the experience and looking back there were two things that stood out in my mind the first was the pinch myself realizing that I was at a place that I had only read about and this made George more real life and the second thought that crossed my mind was there is no way he threw a silver dollar across the Potomac behind his house

I believe the key was a gift from Lafayette and it was a key to the notorious French prison the Bastille. After the French Revolution the doors were thrown open and prisoners released. Lafayette viewed Washington as a father figure and considered him a major inspiration for the French Revolution

The MVLA has a goal to have MT Vernon look as it looked when George lived there. They removed a porch that was added to the south side by people who owned the house later. The river side roof line used to have a little fence type design which was also removed. This was all about a hundred years ago but I guess it doesn’t surprise me they would put in period windows (that you showed).

. One can only imagine all the dignitaries and there wives being presented and entertained by Martha while her husband held important business meetings . I wondered what she saved to her guess . And who slept in the beautiful guess rooms . Marth had impeccable taste not too over the top just perfect . Thanks for the photo shots Jordan , now I see why so many visitors enjoy this historic American tour . 💛💚💜👍

Where I lived in Pennsylvania, they had a lot of old houses like original Mt. Vernon people still live in them today-some are bigger most are smaller. The ceilings were low to keep it warm. Lots put stucco over brownstone. Most put additions on them, and of course install a modern kitchen. The view from Mr. Vernon was beautiful! Mr. Washington must’ve had one heck of a thumb to toss a coin across the Potomac! 😝

I've been to George Washington's Mount Vernon numerous times. One time I was fortunate enough to go to the 3rd floor where Martha Washington lived the last 2 years of her life. I highly recommend that you visit the Hermitage in Nashville, TN. where Andrew Jackson lived. 95% of the furnishings at the Hermitage were original to the house which is very rare in most historical homes unfortunately. Another great home to visit is Thomas Jefferson's Monticello in Virginia.

Thank you for this video. In the beginning of the video you were walking past the trees and mentioning how Washington walked right past those trees too. It reminded me of a wooden vase I bought from Mt. Vernon. The vase was made from a Chesnut tree that had been there since the 1700's when Washington was alive and I thought, well that's cool. Then I found out the tree was struck down by a severe storm on July 6, 2020 which happened to be the same day my father died. So this vase has a lot of meaning to me. I had a lot of ancestors that fought in the American Revolution. One of them, my 5th great grandfather Samuel Ellis, had a conversation with Washington. I'm proud to say I'm a distant cousin of his.

His “last will and testament” desk and his “death bed” were very interesting. I wish they would have allowed a look at the third floor, wonder what his wife’s room looked like.

Again, good job Jordan. U got great still shots. With u explaining the pics it still feels like a regular tour and informative. One thing they told me in the many trips I made was the paint on the walls (random colors) was relatively new. Paper was usually used and wall paints were grey or off white. He want to show his love for color and felt it went well with all the colors in the outside view. I guess by today’s standards he was a trend setter. Loving the filming in this part of the country.

Oh Jordan .... absolutely wonderful! I had goose bumps as you toured the house, especially when you came to his room and bed where he passed away. A huge WOW moment. Question: why weren't people allowed to the 3rd floor to see Mrs. Washington's room? As for the whole house, it doesn't surprise me that it grew and did so quite elegantly. Mr. Washington was, after all, an architect before he was President.
