"~I was younger than you are now. When I was given my first command. I led my men straight into a massacre. I witnessed their deaths firsthand. I made every mistake. And felt the shame rise in me. And even now I lie awake. Knowing history has its eyes on me. Let me tell you what I wish I’d known. When I was young and dreamed of glory. You have no control: Who Lives, Who Dies, And Who Tells Your Story~" ---Hamilton the Musical

I think his relationships with Ben & Lafayette were really sweet; I didn't envy Washington's burden- knowing he would be the first be hunted down & executed should the rebellion fail- to say nothing of years & years of trying to think multiple moves ahead, even at times when many people couldn't see more than the next few days or weeks' campaign- he was often appearing to be thinking _much_ further ahead - & despite being unable to explain it to others, he pressed on. He had his failures, fears, flaws, & doubts- & yet... His strengths, quality, hopes, & convictions brought about immense successes. And *that* dream sequence... _chilling_ the first time I saw it. It was a fantastic performance... Edit: grammar

You know Character is the question. If you have it, it will carry you through. In the early days of the war there were two men who kept the Revolution going. It was Washington and Arnold, one had Character and one didn't. You be the judge.
