Only Watsky is awesome enough to crowd surf in a teen poetry slam.

"I know that 7-minute poems are not prime youtube material" These ~7 minute poems are pretty much the only thing I watch on youtube

The first time I watched this was not long after it came out. I still come back to it a couple times every year, every time I need some inspiration, wise words, or a little pick me up. Watsky’s words ring in my bones and have helped to shape me into who I am today, and he continues to inspire me all of the time. Thank you for this.

@MrMuteghost10 жыл бұрын
Aaron Dude. It's a metaphor. I feel like maybe poetry isn't your thing if you take everything literally.
@MrMuteghost10 жыл бұрын
Aaron You definitely took it literally. You answered it with a ridiculous spiel on how it's really not believing in something you can't see, because wind is observable in other ways. That's the equivalent of responding to the line right before it ("...and if your heart beats right out of chest, let it swim upstream.") with something like: "Did you know that hearts are human organs that can't actually swim or do anything when detached from the human body?" Anyway, if you listen to it in context (which is what you're supposed to do, because no line in the poem means anything on its own), then the meaning is pretty clear. It's about believing in yourself and chasing your ambitions, even when it becomes difficult, or even a little scary. Just listen to the context again, it's not a particularly difficult poem to decipher.

The beauty of this is that you aren't alone. We probably don't even live in the same country, or speak the same language in our daily life, but our thoughts around this subject is still alike. If we spread this message to our friends, family and children, we could either create that generation or be it. Make it be inevitable.

Im here again. many years removed from a poem that i LOVE. in my PERSONAL top five, boxing "Button Poetry" stars daily. To just really praise Watsky. I met him at a show on his Cardboard Castles Tour. He dealt with me buying him a drink theres no way he coulda drank after EVERYONE else beat me to the punch... But he signed the first dollar bill wrong and then signed a second. Gave me the clear false hope of "ill listen for your name" when i told him i was trying to break into music. (i think he could tell i never would but god bless his sweet lie!) like this poem? its a thing ill always look back on and remember fondly.

Goddamn it George, I cannot tell you how often you have brought a lump to my throat. Stunning to the point of a life-long loyalty or the love and the joy in a favourite author or actress. It's good practice to flash easy skills on the mattress but where I've got less, you got this and as I speechlessly reach for the 'favourite' icon, it occurs to me how much better you said it than I can.

Basically in one of his old poems he said "did somebody say swag?" and the whole audience would yell swag. This poem and the stage dive represent him leaving that part of his life behind, and the breeze is kind of metaphorically taking those words away from him.
