This sort-of reminds me of a photograph I accidentally took at Disney World many years ago. I had my camera on a tripod (back when you could get away with that) taking a ~30 second exposure around dusk. While my shutter was open, some random family had a flash photograph taken of them by a Photopass photographer right in the middle of my frame. I still call that my "ghost family" photo :-)

Love the creative idea of this, and tried several times, but cannot get the ethereal results.

Sorry, we only had an iPhone to test with. We did some searching and couldn't find any options for the android. But if you figure out a way to do this with an Android please share! Happy Halloween.

We're experimenting with Androids right now! Sadly, it doesn't have a long exposure option without downloading a separate app like Long Exposure Camera 2. You can try using the Night Sight option, but it doesn't always work as well.

@@GeorgeEastmanMuseum You could take two photos, one with the subject and a "clean plate" and then bring them into an editor that allows layers (GIMP is a free one), and then use the opacity setting to blend the images for a ghostly effect. That should work with any camera.
