Paxman kept a Romanian couple in the room above his garage paying less than minimum wage and no pension. Not a very generous man in his compliments not his employment practices When Will Self talks about Labour and the Conservatives failing to launch as mass membership parties, he misses the mark. What we have learnt from the Starmer and Sunak era is that the two main parties don't want democracy within their own parties and do not want a mass membership that would demand this.

As a result of the 2008 banking crisis we entered an era of a lower standard of living. Later made worse by covid, and will continue to be made worse with green policies. He was also right in saying we'd enter a period of politics where we'd chop and change leaders - but not because the voters (at least initially) were disenfranchised of the two main parties, but mainly because of Brexit.
