7:44 so GSP at 16 or 17 years old, a teenager, based out of Montreal at the time, was trying to get a crew to go train elite BJJ in New York. They agree but then bail out. He knew next to know English and would now have to cover the full financial costs, but he went anyway. Foreign country, foreign language, foreign culture to go train a foreign martial art with older strangers. He goes all the way there and gets his ass kicked.... From this moment on, GSP somehow developed into the best MMA wrestler/grappler of his generation. He went on to dominate former collegiate D-1 wrestlers and BJJ black belts who trained grappling from childhood. Georges has an incredible drive, fight IQ and charisma. I have so much respect for this guy.

One of the many reasons GSP is my GOAT. Yeah Jon is the "most dominant" or whatever, but GSP and even DJ should be ahead of him on the all time lists bc they weren't dirty fighters or cheaters!! They did things the right way and deserve nothing but the utmost respect ✌️
@mattlandry3 ай бұрын
While this is completely badass, going from Montreal to New York by yourself isn't that crazy. You learn an ok amount of English in Montreal and it's only like a 7 hour drive. They both have a similar enough city culture. I think going from Mexico to the US would be a much bigger culture shock.

You are not thinking right. It was the FIRST worldwide pandemic. NOBODY knew what to do. They followed Scientific advice, which varied with new results coming in when they were available and tests, and had to do like the rest of the Western world (except a few). IF we'd had lost a lot more Canadians, like your family members, YOU'd have been the first to blame them for NOT doing like the rest... BTW: I got HBP and AFib after my third vaccine (changed to Moderna)... So I SHOULD be mad, But I get the ratio of saves versus adverse effects and I just put myself in the .05% list.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis when I was 21. Fasting has been the only thing that has helped. Docs wanted to give me all sorts of poisonous medicine, I declined and did my own research. No grains, no high fructose corn syrup. Dropping those, I have no problems. Fasting makes me feel sharp. I also have tendonitis like JSP was talking about that comes up, but goes away completely when I fast. It's unreal hearing him say this stuff, I knew he had UC for years but never heard him talk about it. Im 33 now and only have relapses when Im obviously not trying with my diet.

How long are talking fasting-wise? Also curious about what works for you with your diet? I have many people including family that suffer from UC and any input would be greatest appreciated 🙏
@Audio0173 ай бұрын
@@Boi-c5v Honestly any fasting helps. The longest I have done is four days, but I can tell day one if I dont eat I have more energy and am more able to do things. What I just said is how I feel, as for actual UC symptoms... Prolonged consumption of soda and sugars leads to more ulcers, blood and pain. Specifically for me it's fountain soda, high fructose corn syrup and I believe folic acid. I was taught it was stress related, but Ive been really stressed and fasting/quitting sugars/grains fixes my problems. It bears mentioning Im not a doctor, nor do I have severe UC. My UC is fairly minor at at the end of my digestive tract, but I imagine my quick responses to symptoms, i.e., I fast for a day or two immediately, really helps a lot. If people dont handle the symptoms, its like JSP says in this podcast, it can lead to horrendous, life altering issues. Lastly you asked about my diet, I will preach no artificial sugars and no grains. I was lactose intolerant most of my life, but a week of cutting grains and fake sugars (Sugars not found in whole fruit, whole veg, honey or maple syrup), I could drink milk and eat cheese. For three months I ate no grains and no sugars and was completely healthy and stronger than ever. Mostly because of laziness, I eat grains frequently now but monitor certain aspects of them. For example, I eat no American produced pasta/grains because they are 'enriched' and that means they have folic acid, which I believe hurts my digestive system.

I always learn so much from GSP and I'm not very much into MMA. The things he says are so beneficial to everyday life and challenges. Thank you GSP!

GSP sounding more like gambit than the guy from Louisiana. 😂 ( Really shows how Cajuns and Quebs are cousins ).

I love GSP. Very wise and self aware and despite his self admitted fear of fighting, he rose to the very top. There is no courage without fear ❤

His final words in the interview: “Well no, I’m afraid of a lot of things, but I’m willing to do it. That’s the difference.” That was an amazing interview!

The level of excitement GSP gets to when talking about dinosaurs and fossils (1:15:40) as opposed to him talking about his HOF mma career is hilarious

St. Pierre is so honest, unassuming, polite, just everything about this dude. To know such a badass fighter was scared to death to go out there is wild.

Gave me the inspiration I need to make it through this next week of work and family life with a will of steel........ every time I listen to GSP on long-form content, I feel so invigorated. So much wisdom and class 👌🏻

I give theo props cuz i know how hard it must be to try to understand george (wait! I just realized Theo is from lousiana and george is french lol) and I love george for coming on the pod cast. one of my favorite quotes in fighting was from george. "I dont talk shit in english, because its not my first language so I'll always lose, i prefer to talk in the ring" which he made a living out of.. such a legend. Thanks Theo this meant a hell of alot to us Canadians
