We had a small town- Driscoll, Texas- that had a police department whose sole activity was writing tickets on the highway. But Karma is a Bi***. A highway bypass was built on Highway 77 around the town. The town died, along with the police. Justice Has Been Served.

Even if the police weren't corrupt, they should still be defunded. America spends entirely too much money on police and we still have the highest crime rate of any western democracy. America spends over $113 BILLION every year on police, this is more than France and Germany spend on their entire militaries COMBINED, it's more than Russia spends on its military while fighting the war in Ukraine....and that doesn't even account for the epidemic of overtime theft by police that nothing is ever done about. Do you think it's a good expenditure to spend the most on cops and still have the highest crime? The reason for this, and you csn find this out in 2 minutes on Google, is that there is LITERALLY zero proof that more cops lowers crime, in fact there's plenty of evidence showing crime can and usually does go up when we add more police. Just look at the crime rate under Reagan who spent more on law enforcement than any preceeding president. Why did crime go up under Reagan? Because there was a 10%+ unemployment rate!!! Quite literally the only thing that has any evidence to show it lowers crime isnlowering poverty! This is how literally every other developed western nation has less crime per capita than America while having fewer cops and less harsh punishments. This is why anybody who claims they want to lower crime by adding more cops or increasing punishments doesn't actually want to lower crime, they just want to punish more.

If you don’t know, in Georgia policeman get paid extra for having to appear in Court. So, if a policeman wants or needs to increase his paycheck, he writes bogus tickets or fines where they would have to appear in court. The policemen are not penalized for the bogus tickets or fines.
@buckiemohawk3643Ай бұрын
The police were never meant to had out tickets they were created to protect property, not give out fines

Brookside, a city with a population of less than 1300 people their police department has no need for an armored MRAP SWAT vehicle. Most of the people they are ticketing are just driving through on the highway.
@georgevanaken925Ай бұрын
They need the armored personnel carrier, in case some crazy assed citizen try’s to say “No”.

The citizens of those communities voted for it. Blame it on them. The PD wouldn't be able to get away with it if the community rejected it.
@zammmerjammerАй бұрын
Yeah, I want to hear about these citizens continually voting for politicians who promise to "cut taxes" -- because this is what that means.
@georgevanaken925Ай бұрын
People reject it all the time… ..they’re dead.
@andrewtaylor940Ай бұрын
As an example of what happens when the citizens do reject it. And do take action, notice how most automated ticketing systems such as red light cameras and unmanned automated speed traps have gone away in most Georgia municipalities? The people are not as powerless as they sometimes think.
