Thanks for the Confederacy to sue. I'm allies with the Confederates. Though I live in Houston. I'd really want Another Confederate Stone Mountain by Houston.

You don't build monuments and raise flags to learn about slavery, you do those things to celebrate it. If you want to learn about your past, we have these wonderful things called History Books. It's where your history is recorded, so that you won't forget.

Sorry that doesn't justify the twist on history the "Son's" and "Daughters" of the Confederacy groups have done on Civil War and Jim Crow history in our textbooks and by making these monuments long after the actual Civil War. It's glorifying white supremacy which is what the South stood for back then.

@@crowdnine878 yes Grant married into a slave owning family. He was considered terrible by his neighbors for not being cruel enough to them. Also Lee and Stonewall both owned slaves. Lee was an especially un sympathetic torturer that creature.
@TruthFiction

@@crowdnine878 That is a revisionist lie. Grant was given two slaves in 1859 and he freed them a few weeks later. Lee and Jackson both owned slaves, with Lee inheriting his and going to court several times to get the inheritance restriction that those slaves must be freed within a set time overturned. He lost those court battles and finally freed them 3 days before the emancipation proclamation. History isn't that hard, try learning it. The South started the war over slavery. The North did not, but used the fact that the South did as an excuse to free those slaves to spite the rebels for being just that stupid.

Not surprised at all. The area is being overrun with large amounts of poor to middle class minorities and there have been a few times that the black panthers have marched on the site and accosted white people. The civil war was not about slavery. New Jersey and Maryland were both slave owning states during the war. The war was about taxes and states right in which the south did get what they wanted, each state has its own right. The south did not completely loose. Just like the end of any war. The leaders meet at a table and work out a deal.

Corner Stone Speech by Alexander H. Stephens (March 21, 1861) "But not to be tedious in enumerating the numerous changes for the better, allow me to allude to one other though last, not least. The new constitution has put at rest, forever, all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institution-African slavery as it exists amongst us-the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution. Jefferson in his forecast, had anticipated this, as the “rock upon which the old Union would split.” He was right. What was conjecture with him, is now a realized fact. But whether he fully comprehended the great truth upon which that rock stood and stands, may be doubted ..... Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner-stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery, subordination to the superior race, is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first, in the history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth."

Dude, the rebels flat out declared it was over slavery. Do yourself a favor and learn the actual history instead of mindlessly repeating what is obviously false. The war was never about taxes because the South did NOT PAY taxes. The entire tax income of the US government practically came from NYC and Boston alone. Tariffs were the only form of taxation the nation had at the time and 93% of them were collected in those two cities.

@@TruthFiction Maryland and New Jersey Jersey both had slaves during the civil war. those two states would not have taken arms along with Pennsylvania for example if it was about slavery. My point still stands every race has been enslaved and had others enslaved. Slavery even happens today. In it's lighter more politically correct term it's called employee and employer.
