My two most vivid memories from my 1998 visit are waiting outside with the sun burning my feet in my sandals and the view from her double aspect bedroom. I would love to tour again to experience the restored gardens.

I camped there for a week. I discovered her work in the early 70's when I was a teenage visiting four corners area. Her work immerse me into a land that I would not visit again until 14 years later. When I journeyed into this land again I felt like I was seeing an old friend. When I see her work I can feel, smell and hear this land, that is bad ass.

Wow that is bad ass. I would LOVE to camp there. Or venture into those southwestern lands she loved so much.

3:12 "one of Georgia O'Keeffe's most famous paintings created during her time at Abiquiu home" which she didn't move into until 1949 "was Pedernal", which she painted in 1941. New Mexico is the Land of Enchantment, but I am not sure that time travel is possible. The painting was actually created at her home in Ghost Ranch which has a beautiful view of Pedernal.

I have visited both the Abiquiu House and her original dwelling at Ghost Ranch. I highly recommend going to both, which you can arrange to visit through the Georgia O'Keefe Museum in Santa Fe, NM. The landscape surrounding both houses are spectacular and the interiors reveal a great deal about her personal style and aesthetic preferences.

Mesa = said "MAY-SA." Gramps was the chief hydrologist for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in New Mexico and surrounding tribal areas, a job requiring long desert car trips. When passing through Abiquiu he would stop by Georgia's for a chat. He found her a good hostess and engaging conversationalist.

Albuquerque is a place, Abiquiu is another place. They are pronounced differently.
