Hi Peter; Thank you so much for your kind comment. But, I really wish I picked up harmonica more earlier in my life. When you are young, we learn more quickly. Now, very slow...... Look forward to hear your harmonica. Take Care, -Yoshi

Hi Peter; appreciate your question. Yes, I am self-taught. Actually, before this, I self-taught piano, guitar, and trumpet. No where at high skill level. Just enough to enjoy myself. My favorite now of course is chromatic. Not really long hour of practice (I wish I have time). Except, because I really like it, I carry it with me and play it whenever I had little time. But lately finding lesser time for it. I learned mainly by "trying" to copy Toots. I do practice scales...etc. but not enough.

Appreciate it, Barry! Yes, I used Hard Bopper. It would sound even closer to Toots if I use Mellowtone. But, my Mellowtone has some air-leak problem and takes lot more effort to play, until I repair it somehow. So, I usually use either HardBopper or Suzuki G48. Have you already come to States?

Good questions! Many of my recent uploads are Suzuki G48 with 12 holes. Toots Favorites are usually in Hard Bopper. Some earlier uploads were Hohner Super64 (Silver, Gold, or Super-X) with 16 holes. So, I do not have any 14 holes. I am thinking I should at least have one 14 holes harp. It is handy. -Continued...

Nonsense! You seemed to fit right in, my friend! Toots would be proud! Tell me, please, what harmonica you're using.

Oh yes, of course, I can only play the song I already know (though I could read music for new song). So, song I play with them are some tunes that I probably played many, many, many times (so I can easily fake it even I get lost).

Sorry. I must've been thinking about someone else. Phil maybe. Anyway I can't wait to get your other answers!

Since, most of time, I play with Karaoke Backing tracks, I play certain arrangement exactly each time. But, when I play with other people, many things are unknown. Even we agree before-hand, things always change. In my head there are certain overall image of construction. And, I just have stock of bunch of phrases (besides melodies) I put them together on the fly. Rest is pure "faking". With band, we just ask, "what shall we do?". "let's do Georgia on My Mind" spontaneous kind of things.

I see now: Hohner Hard Bopper. That's a 12-hole harp, isn't it?

Yes. I've gone and returned. I was only there for 2 days anyway. I would love to meet you -- maybe someday... Meanwhile, please answer the following questions: Why didn't you use a 14-holer (as you usually do)? How did you get to play with them? Did you know how you were going to play the song or was it all improvised?
