Really don't understand how this movie has such bad reviews. It's so beautiful and poignant and the actors did an amazing job of portraying emotions. Especially the relationship dynamics between mother and daughter around trauma, anger and forgiveness. The ending always makes me cry. Such a beautiful film

I can only imagine it’s correlated to the marketing leading audiences to believe it was this lighthearted comedy
@benseverson782010 жыл бұрын
This is a very misleading trailer. It paints the film as a lighthearted coming of age story, when in reality it is a fairly dark movie about alcoholism, dealing with loss, and living as a victim of sexual abuse.

A tragically underrated movie that is too often mistaken by the less attentive viewer as another mindless ROM com, Georgia Rule breaks down stereotypes by proving that an intelligent film about forgiveness, family, and abuse does not need to maintain a miserable and gloomy atmosphere throughout in order to be effective. Lindsay Lohan is excellent as Rachel, the rarely represented abuse survivor who is strong, independent, and smart yet struggles to accept the effects of childhood abuse within her family and her adult life.
@aureagallardo14194 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Too often abuse survivors are seen as these damsels in distress or overtly messed up. Rachel showcases those of us with strong personalities but are damaged by abuse.

They should’ve been in awards contention! I blame this trailer(and the other advertisements) for false advertising and I think if critics hadn’t been blindsided the reviews would’ve been good, same with the box office and all 3 ladies could’ve been up for Golden globes/Oscars ESPECIALLY Lindsay, as great as all 3 were this is her movie for sure

Jane is sensational too but Felicity with that last scene with Arnold, my god ...😢😭. She ripped my heart out haha
@poppinc81452 жыл бұрын
@@j2forew974 They should have at least had 2 trailers for it, with two different tones to lure both audiences including those who want to watch a family drama. Instead, they tried to make it seem like a comedy. This film deserved so much more attention. TBH Lindsay deserved Oscar or Golden Globes consideration for both The Parent Trap and Georgia Rule. All of Lindsay's films in the second half of the 2000s are massively underrated or overlooked.

more like Lindsay Lohan's real life scandals (DUI, rehab, drugs..) overshadowed this film..

@@codezero7981 The thing is Lindsay's personal life wasn't even that crazy between 2006 and 2007. It was worse between 2008 through 2013. Georgia Rule was just overlooked because of critics' biases, and the press hating on her. The marketing also could have been better, they should have had a second trailer that was of a serious tone so each trailer could have attracted different audiences.
