Glad to see a video on it, been wanting 30-30 for long time. Got about 150 pieces of brass I saved up from range pickup, got plenty of 30 caliber bullets. I have Lee 150gr FN 6 cavity bullet mold untouched. Saw one rifle recently in Cabela's for $400 in the rack section, it was new but only had 16" barrel, I wanted 20" but it felt so nice and compact in hands, I believe it was Winchester 94. The only thing is off putting is limited selection of flat nose bullets I'll be forced with or single load each cartridge.

Great vid Walt. Cranky sent me some Arsenal 311-165 F.N. that look very similar to those but I had to seat them to deep in my Winchester for them to chamber (2.433). I will try them out in the Marlin. Those were some good looking bullets,, can’t wait for the range report👍🏻

Great video, the 30-30 is one of my favorite cartridges to shoot cast bullets in you just can't go wrong. Beside the three powders you are using I like H-335 as well for full house loads that match jacketed bullet velocity. I have the Arsenal 170 gr. RD mold meant for the Marlin 30-30 rifles but it want chamber in my old Sav. 170 pump 30-30, but all is not lost as it will chamber easily and shoots great in my Sav. 99 in 300 Sav. Look forward to the next video. Buy the way how do you like that Lucas gun oil you have on the table, I just picked up a bottle of the red as well as the extreme duty oil to try out.

I use Berry's 150gr. fp's with 8-8.5 grains of R.D. in my # 94 with excellent results. thumbs up.......

Very nice video as usual Walt, love your intro...looks like an Indian uprising fixing to start and we are seeing it as the US Calvary would have as they arrived. Walt, you might have mentioned the lead blend and hardness but as usual I prolly had my head up my butt and missed it...would you tell me about those two aspects? I'm preparing some Arsenal 311-176-LFN's for Jerry1911 and I'd like to get it right on the first go-around. Thank you Walt! I have the Arsenal clone of the RD .311- 170 gr. FP, unfortunately the ogive it to large for my old Sav. 170 in 30-30 but the Lee 170 gr. FP fills the bill. The Sav. 99 in 300 Sav. shoots the RD .311 just fine. I use 7.0 grs. Red Dot for light plinker loads and leave the gas check off as well. H-335 is my preferred powder for full house cast loads in the 30-30. I recently started powder coating my bullets with the gas check applied before coating and it sticks to the check just fine. Really liking the Silver Vein powder since I saw some bullets you had coated with it.

@@coatsbrothersfirearms8406 yeah, it's a tough time to be a casting/reloading content creator on YT. I have a few new videos I'm working on which go a little more in-depth during the casting portion--but I will probably have to host them elsewhere and just do a short trailer video. I either have to keep changing my content to try to abide by the changing rules--or host elsewhere and do what I love doing.

I do love to see cast bullet rifle reloading on here. Are you guys working up in 10% increments with each different powder during load development? I.E. - A 20 grain powder charge incremental test with 2/10 of a grain increments. Also have you worked with Trail Boss powder much or at all?

Lee push through sizing dies save a lot of time.

Thompson Jerry I agree. I just don’t like seating gas checks with them.
