Thank you for the warning. Might be in Tbilisi for a few days in June. Reminds me of how best to deal with trouble in South Africa: lock eye contact, and aggressively shout FOKOFF. They get the message. Alternatively, hit them. We call it a moerse klap. You need to lose any sense of shame and be more effort than the trouble is worth.

Thank you my Dear, I have a group of children near to the church side of the Georgia Fine arts Museum. We were prepared for them as they all rushed to us. we had one Lari coins in our pockets which we immediately gave them as they were trying to pull or jackets and we quickly crossed the road. we actually wanted to see the church, but decided it was unsafe. It happened in 2017 Dec, but now i was recently back in Tbilisi and i could see a lot of Police every where which was assuring. I find Georgia to be a safe place to visit and people very friendly, despite the language barrier. Its one of my favorite destinations.

This is sad but true. I experienced it when I was walking from Kiev Street in Davit Aghmanashebeli Ave going to McDonald’s near the Metro. I was walking and saw this group of young lads wearing Gypsie clothing. When I was almost near them, one of the youngest approached me and asked for money. I said no. Then all of the sudden the other young people started to approach me and checked my pockets and everything and shouted at them. They then stopped and moved away because I caught the attention of the other people passing by. Glad that nothing was taken from me. So next time I’ll be more careful.

My sister was coming from the church and ran into the flock of Gypsies, exactly the same area where you've filmed this video. One of the gypsy ladies approached my sister, said something, hugged her, grabbed the gold chain with the gold cross from her neck, and ran away. Bystanders shouted: "police, police..." but they were gone before the police arrived. The cross was given by our Godfather when we were baptized in 1972.

i personally experienced this, me and my friend was mugged in the streets in Rike Park--they are in a group, and they try to open the backpack of my friend and grab our phones--sad... hopefully the government of Tbilisi will step up in preventing these crimes.

Are you allowed to hit the kids in self defense?

What do you think Locals do, watch and let them take their stuff? there's a reason they target Tourists more who are less likely to result to Violence, also the reason they send kids instead of adults. who's gonna press charges anyways, Gypsies?

If a tourist was to punch one of the gypsy kids , would they face punishment from the Georgian police.

Thank you for the comment. Better to distance yourself from them and in case of need push them away to provide safe distance

Thank you for the comment. Yes, traveling smart and light way like a local is universal and optimal not to get much attention of eye catching things. The most important part in this video is the information and recommendations for safe travel here ❤️

its bad but this music is like murder case scary... and just yelling about it. seems a bit excessive to get the point across.. frighten people.. versus educating.

There`s absolutely nothing to worry about. Stop fear-mongering. This is just a bunch of Gypsy kids.

Thank you for the comment. Please note that this video had been recorded several months ago when this unpleasant cases were so frequent. Since then the overall situation has been changed positively though the information is always power when traveling.

TEONA, you saw that someone elses video on the "topic" received 30K views, the footage of which you are even using in your own video. You decided to cash in at the expense of impoverished kids. Hatred against Sinti and Roma is among the most widespread forms of racism and sadly it is rampant in Georgia. You are capitalizing on and promoting racism against a marginalized group. The way you try to demonize entirely predictable effects of marginalization (uncanny music, lol) is just cheap and repulsive.

Thank you for your comment. The main idea for me through this channel is to provide travelers with information to support their memorable visits here. (Many of them are totally novice travelers) the Information is power and it’s always better to know rather then not to know something during travel. That’s pity to hear that you see the video from that perspective… The work and time what I put into this channel is quite much&free with enormous backside contribution and such negativity is just a bit demotivating … Let’s stay positive, respect and appreciate each other’s efforts in this space ❤️ I wish you nice trip and memorable stay in Georgia 🇬🇪

Had I watched this video earlier, I could have prevented the theft from happening. A few kids came and held my hands and legs near the galleria and before I could realise it my wallet was stolen. The public and police will not interfere and will be silent spectators. Luckily I was swift enough to click a few pics of them to show evidence at the police station. On the way to the station a little kid suddenly comes up with my wallet saying they had taken only the Lira's and all other belongings were intact. I did not press any charges as I had very little cash in my wallet. I request the people to travel with Credit cards when touring Georgia as it is accepted almost everywhere and carry very little cash in your wallets. Please don't keep your wallets in your back pocket and careful with your handbags as they are easy to steal. Travel safe and enjoy Georgia as it is a beautiful tourist destination.

Thank you for the comment and sharing your experience. That’s so pity to hear.. information is power and it supports prevention. (In most places hotels, restaurants in Tbilisi you can pay with credit cards though some cash still can be useful for souvenirs/activities or countryside visits) wish you much more positive travel experience in beautiful country of Georgia
