Tiong Bahru is indeed a cool and charming neighbourhood. All the flats there are left with 43 years on lease and yet in recent years, are transacting between SGD1.2 to 1.5 million depending on the size of the unit. As of now, there is one unit at Tiong Poh Road that is listed at an asking price of $2 million, shocking!

Oh … the Yong Seng Coffee … indeed a little hidden gem in Tiong Bahru! Great variety of Freshly roasted premium coffee beans to pick and mix at pocket friendlier prices… free grinding service too and its great aroma just filled the air!! 😊

omg - Spooky! Not only was TB my favourite area for wandering/photographing, but I also have a picture of the "79 Chay Yan Street" sign - taken almost exactly 10 years ago! (1st September 2013). Is the coffee shop you went to where the "Forty Hands" coffee shop used to be? The layout looked very familiar... And also at 03:29 - I have pics of those yellow mailboxes behind you :) For some reason I loved them and took a few pics :) Loving this - it takes me back to a very happy time.

You have missed a ‘hidden’ cafe selling coffee and gelato tucked away in one corner of Tiong Bahru. It’s a cute mini cafe. Blink and you might miss it 😆 - next to Yong Huat upholstery.

I was born in a maternity home a shop now likely in Blk 71 or 72 at Seng Poh Road in 1953 and live in Moh Guan Terrace till 1960 on a ground floor unit now Blk 78. Those period the blocks were not numbered. Whenever the kampong houses after Kim Pong Road catches fire everyone will run over and gather onto the five foot way in front of our house. My sister and me will not be able to see it from our windows. The house was rented by my Peranakan grandmother. We moved out in 1960 to Hua Guan Avenue when the company brought a house there for her. Still remember triangle park and Bo Bo Tan Mansion, Primary School where i stayed overnight at. My Sikh friend's father was the watchman or jaga there. My grandfather has a shop at Clatke Quay a traditional Teochew locale, now the Swissotel Merchant Court. Used to go into the smelly black mud in Singapore River with my cousins during low tide to catch crayfish which cannot be eaten due to the polluted water.

@@GeorgiaCaney Im not sure if you have heard of Little Guilin which is right next to the football stadium in front of bukit gombak MRT station. Its very underrated. Even that Japanese local youtuber Ghib ojisan went to that area but went somewhere else to find that Japanese Shrine Gates

Welcome to my hood! Next time you’re back, you have to try Loo’s curry rice (which you showed earlier in your video but didn’t order from 😅) the queue is usually at least 20 people deep but it’s worth the wait. It’s been the neighborhood favourite since 1946 and locals travel from all over Sg for it.

I actually like the store that Georgia bought from. I find the pork chop more crunchier and the portions are generous!
