I think the reason Denji finally feels motivated to fight the Eternity Devil is because Aki risked his life for him in a really honest way - even though it is kind of selfish from Aki but, he is honest - he needs Denji to kill the gun devil. And second, I think no one ever risked his life or got hurt in order to protect Denji (besides his true friend Pochita)- Denji is not used to this because he feels absolutely inferior- he doesn't think his life is anything worth. All his life he has been avoided, bullied and spit on but now a person protects him. He honestly just wants to repay the favor here. I think that he believes that he is not worthy of such a protection that is why he immediatly tries to clear this up - also with his trauma of being indebted this is a heavy issue for him. Also Aki is the only one who doesn't yell to kill him. Aki's sacrifice gives Denji some worth in return at the same time and he can not ignore that. Denji already gave himself up to Makima - he will be executed anytime on her whim. So he thinks very lowly of his own life - that is why he can be so indifferent towards fear - also, I believe that he has faith in his abilities since they were granted to him by Pochita's sacrifce. This was the first sacrifice someone did for him and Pochita died to save Denji. Denji doesn't want to loose someone important to him again. Even though Aki is not his best friend yet, he lives with him and gets lovely meals. I think Denji already doesn't want to loose Aki - and certainly not with him being the reason.

I feel there is more to Aki doing this but it's never stated and it's more of an intuition. I'm a manga reader and there's a lot of depth in these relationships and small actions even though it feels fairly simple now.
@redroseibarahime8755

@@SpareMango I strongly guess so but as an anime only I have nothing more to back it up with atm^^ I also think there is a great possibility that Aki develops a brother-like relationship with Denji. Aki used to care for his brother as well(in his own way) - maybe he also wants to care more/make up for the lack of interest he showed for his brother by taking care of Denji after he couldn't appreciate his brother? After all, the life as a demon hunter can be short - he lost his brother(and parents) unexpectedly as well. And Denji is a big baby in many ways because he lacks experience. Aki already cares for him and Power as a kind of "teacher" - teaching them how to live properly (eating, cleaning etc...) I think/hope they will forge a family like bond.

It might be the highlight of the whole series but I wonder how Denji maintains his humanity in a world that treated him horribly. No one is born to hate, but after losing everything and being manipulated I'm sure it would break anyone. Yet, he shared what little he had with his only friend, he covered for a fiend that would have killed him in exchange for another life, and he would give his life away to a group of people (especially to one because he didn't want to be indebted to anyone). He continues to show a somewhat healthy sense of interdependence despite his reasoning being "selfish."

I remember one time I laughed in distress and people were judging me. And it made feel crazy that I said to myself "Why am I laughing?" And this happened like around 10 more times. I'm starting to notice a pattern that when I laugh it's actually in distress, unless there was a goofy joke or my friends & family having a good time. Bit random as well though thank you for letting me self-reflect myself.

"I see you have noticed. You're wondering if it's poison, aren't you? It is not. This is something that you lost a long time ago. Retrace your memories. You became a captain. You became strong. You became able to overpower your enemies. It's a sensation you haven't felt in a long time, isn't it? That is the most important sensation for a person to survive. It is called 'fear.'" "For those who have been struck by my arrows, all sorts of things turn into fear. What if I reach for my sword, or if I draw it? What if I swing it up or swing it down? What if I move my fingers, or shift my gaze? What if I breathe in, or breathe out? Maybe something fatal will occur. Anything and everything is suspicious, making it impossible to even think straight." "But you are enduring it so far with sheer force of will. You are a threat. But that is all. A threat. It can hardly compare to fear. The core of your soul is already consumed by your fear of me. 'Fear can be overcome with experience.' The stronger and more experienced you are, the harder you fall for that illusion. Fear that has a cause is easy. If there is a cause to it, then by removing that cause you also remove what you think is fear. But true fear has no cause. That's because it's not an emotion. It is instinct. True fear has no cause or limits. It crawls up your body like countless flies. We cannot escape our instincts." -Äs Nödt, Bleach.

@@GeorgiaDow It's... Well, full disclosure, Kubo Tite's style ended up a bit... weird, especially towards the end. Don't get me wrong: What he did well, he did _very_ well (very stylish, great characters, amazing battle scenes) and Bleach was pretty much my favorite out of the "Big Three" back in the day. Still, Kubo struck me as sort of a lazy, easily bored genius who sometimes simply couldn't be bothered telling his story in a conventional and efficient way, yet still got away with it on pure talent. In a way, it was sorta fascinating. I will say, it's _definitely_ a manga to be read in longer sittings, not one chapter at a time like we did when it was still being published.

True. The human side of her is that of a child and children can be cruel too.

Would love to hear your analysis on Himeno thus far. Surprisingly, she is the most flushed out character so far because we're growing with denji and power, and aki hasn't really opened up yet. But we've gotten a lot on Himeno we've gotten a view of her personality, mentality, habits, and flashbacks. For example the first time we really saw her vulnerability was when she saw Aki get hurt after she had been very protective of him.

Before Denji fought the Eternity devil, Denji and the others realized they were caught in an inescapable time loop. Denji used the opportunity to take a nap and rest. Everyone else stayed awake and continued to build up stress and anxiety from the situation. After Denji woke up, he seemed to be the only one of the group that was able to calmly process what he needed to do to save everyone else. The others had been pushed to their mental breaking point. Denji allowed himself to rest and de-stress by taking a nap, while the rest of the characters thought he was just being lazy and not taking the situation seriously. Perhaps if the other characters had found a way to de-stress as Denji did, they might have also handled the situation better than just jumping to the conclusion that Denji had to be sacrificed, so that the others could leave.

Denji's probably only taking offense in Aki saving him since he never experienced the concept of debt as innocently as regular people; For him, any kind of debt is not something as cheap or innocent as owing say 5 bucks to someone but life ruining debt that'll make you sell your organs, live through poverty and all the horrible jobs he had to take back in the past and it keeps growing no matter what you do.

Love the cosplay as always Georgia! And did you know that the same three things that work to discourage/defeat people in a fight - getting tired, getting hurt, losing the motivation/reason FOR the fight [ie: is THIS worth it?] ALSO works when fighting animals? Animals too can abruptly decide: "Yep.I got better things to do somewhere else." I really need to point people to this video who don't listen when I try to explain the importance of resilience and that there is a silver lining to going through tough/hard things. BUT THE BIG takeaway for me was the whole GEORGIA HAS BEEN PLAYING RPG's ALL HER LIFE!!!!! That fit SO perfectly with my image of you!!!! (Patting myself on my back right now for being so smart! Just found you today. Looks like you found a solid niche to create your space in. Been telling my sister she could benefit from jumping into the anime sphere and coupling it with what's she's passionate about as well. BTW, about 50 seconds into the video I realized you had the ripcord on your chest lol. Nice touch. I'm going to cycle through more of your content and follow. I'm not sure if you read and analyze manga as well, but if you do there's a phenomenal Manhwa (Korean manga) called What's Going On, by author Minguk23. It's not a complex story by any measure, but it's the most authentic representation of human communication I've ever read from a slice of life/romance manga/manhwa. The sex is very explicit, but that's not what kept me engaged. It was how real the characters interactions, dialogue, and choices felt while reading. I reached out to the author via email just to tell them how much I loved it and asked if they were Korean and grew up in S.Korea because of how much their writing reminded me of Western culture. Their response was that the translation team did a terrific job with their work. Anyway, take care.

Your series has been great so far! You picked a really great series to use for analysis, as there's so much going on with every single character, and so many angles to can approach them from. While the next few episodes from here to the end of the season are going to be more action-focused (assuming this season ends where I think it's going to) there will still be plenty for you to talk about! I'd be very interested in an episode about Himeno, but it might be worth waiting a few more episodes as we're still learning more about her currently. And oh boy, let me tell ya, when they get to a season 2, you're going to have SO MUCH to talk about, you'll be set for video topics for quite a while!

Social rejection has been shown to be interpreted similarly to physical pain by the brain. So, perhaps the socially awkward and outcast should be treated as chronic pain patients. I know I developed learned helplessness and despondency from a young age that I've never recovered from.

When I was starting with this anime I thought it's a bit weird but a funny one and a simple one. Boy I was wrong. I mean it isn't exactly deep or filled with philosophical questions(at least for now) but at the start we've seen things only from the perspective of Denji/Power who are pretty simple people with simple worldviews. The more cast appears the more layers appear in the anime as well as in Denji who is shaped by the people around him.

I beg permission to advise you that it is better for you to provide a manually typed translation in the youtube studio settings. Why is that? Because so that people understand more fully what you are saying

Would you consider going and watching Re:Zero? I think it would be very interesting hearing your take on Subaru and some other characters, as a therapist

I don't think I will ever not click on one of your series analysis videos, with the caveat that I want to be caught up on the series you are analyzing first. Hence why I still won't watch your stranger things vids.
