HI Georgia, thanks for putting this up. I just replied to a comment below and thought I was as well put it here for everyone to see, including yourself. Marcia was most likely living with PTSD caused by seeing our other sister die in a horrific manner. Marcia, and none of our family received any trauma counselling back then. Marcia had a psychotic breakdown known as a drug induced psychosis, a few years after Dianne died. It was determined at the time she was Manic Depressive. It took a few years but she came good. Marcia was never allowed to indulge in any drugs from that point, including marijuana. I have since confirmed the new boarder had smoked cannabis in the house when Marcia was not there. I also know she had been out the weekend prior with dope smokers. Smell is a major trigger of PTSD. As Marcia had told me that her past was coming back (did not specify as physical or mental), I expect this is what pushed her over the edge and caused the issues of that Monday 19th August 1996. A lot of this was never made public at the time as there was a lot of stigma attached to families with a mental case in them. Also our family had no knowledge back then of PTSD or mental health disorder triggers. regards, Tony Ryan (One of Marcia's brother's.)

I can’t believe that this was suicide because she would never put her beloved dog Ziggy in a dangerous situation. If she wanted to commit suicide I’m absolutely positive she would have found a way to ensure Ziggy was safe and loved before she did it. There’s no way she walked into the woods and killed herself knowing that Ziggy would be all alone in a strange place. My dog is my soulmate just like Ziggy - there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to keep him safe!

That's what I thought too, she clearly loved Ziggy deeply. I can't see her taking her own life without leaving Ziggy somewhere safe first, even if she was going through a major emotional breakdown.

Agreed, she would have made sure Ziggy is safe no matter what and walking to the woods isn't close or easy to get to from where her car was left, especially on a dark rainy night.

I used to think the same, but recently a woman in my town took her 2 dogs out with her on a hike and did 100% commit suicide. Im not saying this means this happened in this situation, but it is possible maybe they bring them as a comfot :/

This might sound unbelievable but this happened in my town of Moe,south Gippsland.Where I still live today.I still remember this case and a little fact:The police actually came up to our family farm in Trafalgar to look for this missing lady.I remember the police searching in this tunnel we have on the property that joins our farm to the next door neighbours property. I also remember there being something about a suitcase too. Safe to say this lady wasn’t dumped on our property thank goodness but I still think about this poor woman all these years later and how she just seemed to just vanish from off the side of the highway near the Newborough exit I think.

Thank you for covering an Australian case, they really don't get enough coverage. Another Victorian case that badly needs coverage is Krystal Fraser. Krystal was heavily pregnant when she went missing and it is highly believed that the father of her unborn baby killed her. All we need is a confession or witnesses to come forward so that Krystal and her baby can finally be laid to rest and justice can be served.

Thanks for your interest in Marcia. I only met her once and it was at a party the Saturday before she disappeared. We were the only ones at the party not drinking or smoking pot so we basically stuck together and just talked. She told me about her dog Ziggy, her motorbike and house. We had a mutual friend at the party Steven. They both grew up in Georgetown Tasmania. Me, Steve and another guy took her back home to her house in Seaford around 3AM. That was a Sunday the day before she vanished. I sent about 8 hours talking with Marcia that night and there was no mention of driving to Queensland. In fact she said she was going on a ride with Steven. She didn't seem like anything was bothering her although she did argue with some guys over smoking pot. She was against it and didn't mind telling them. The whole thing doesn't make any Sense. But I've always wondered if that party had anything to do with it

@@TheAuskoala I never went to the police because I was as mystified as everyone else. Marcia had planned to go on a motor bike ride the next day with a friend of mine. Steve from Georgetown in Tasmania. I thought that's where he new her from. I'm sure her brother will always wonder what happened to her. Me too. She was a lovely girl. If she had planned to visit her parents in QLD she would have told me. We literally talked all night. What's your connection with her if you don't mind me asking
@TheAuskoala Жыл бұрын
Hi Denis, thanks for the reply. I am one of her brothers, Tony. Probably the only one really looking at this stage. Does Steve's surname start with a "G"? If so, I know the one you are talking about. Just happens the boarders name is also Steve. If you are talking about the same Steve, Marcia was also due to go out with him, and two other friends the following weekend. Marcia booked the outing on her credit card and the transaction was applied after two of the tickets were collected. Steve G waited outside the venue for Marcia but she did not show up. Steve G did not know Marcia was missing until I contacted him. Marcia had known Steve G for quite a few years, and my brother, Paul, who lives in northern NSW also knows him.

Coincidentally I went to my orthopedic surgeon yesterday(I had surgery 7 years ago on my back). But 2 weeks ago out of the blue I started having severe back pain. He said my spine has fallen apart above and below my previous surgery. So now he said I need a spinal fusion for spondylolisthesis. I'm a little scared because this surgery is much more involved. Anyway I'm middle aged so it's really not that surprising. All of that being said please take care of your back while you are young. I sound like your Mom. Sorry that's not how I wanted to come across. Sending my love from Florida.

But Georgia every single line in your videos is well thought out and put together with the victim and victims familys in mind so think you. If your ever looking for another case you should look into the Heidi Semen case she was a young girl who went missing on her way home from a sleepover and if i remember correctly the number one suspect was in the military stationed around where she was taken. Obviously no pressure to cover anything I've just been thinking about her a lot recently and her case doesn't get a lot of coverage.

I was wondering about Marcia Ryan a few weeks ago; it's all bizarre. Camberwell is a fair distance from Seaford or even Huntingdale where she worked - did anyone ever check where Ziggy's vet was or if Ziggy had had check-ups recently? I'll say no, happy to be corrected. Years ago there was a great vet in Camberwell a lot of people used to go out of their way to see, myself included, maybe a check-up of Ziggy was not good that caused her to need to see her parents? I suspect Marcia let Ziggy out for a wee, she ran off, then Marcia may have been hit by accident by a car on the roadside, then buried to hide evidence. Love the set-up, Moe is pronounced Moe-y 😘
@Theyrecomingtogetyoubarbara Жыл бұрын
I feel like someone in a car (travelling back in the direction she’d come from) grabbed her whilst she was out of her vehicle. But realistically, this is a case that will be very difficult to ever solve unless someone comes forward.

@JoliNatural Жыл бұрын
Marcia leaving work and heading home (confirmed by her brother who visited) is odd considering she then headed to Camberwell at night time. Why? Did she know someone there? Was she going there for dinner (maybe a favourite place to eat)? An article on her missing page says her car was found to be out of fuel about 1km past a petrol station in Moe, however, you have to exit the highway to enter/see the town of Moe. The article also stats Marcia was last seen by the truck driver crossing the highway, to the 'Melbourne side', after she declined his lift (had she decided to walk back towards Moe?). It is a dark stretch of road. No street lights. Not a great deal of traffic late at night. Stranger still, her wallet being found heading in the same direction (east) yet 20km further back from where her car was found... it's unlikely she ditched her own wallet. Did someone local kidnap her, drive back towards Darnum, then toss her wallet while heading back towards Moe? Locals reporting her being buried at Moondarra nation park seems to suggest people talked in hushed whispers about what happened to Marcia.

At the time the Service station at Gunns Gully could be clearly seen from the highway. Not so easy now as trees have grown up around there. Marcia's wallet contained a fuel card from her employer, that allowed her to get fuel from any service station without needing cash. Having discarded the wallet some 20km prior to the service station, she obviously did not intend to fill it up. The CCTV at the service station shows she did not walk back to it after the truck driver spoke with her. A couple of years ago I was contacted by Stuart Booth who informed me, and the police, he saw Marcia at her vehicle the Tuesday morning with the keys on the bonnet of the car and she was talking to two men in a while Ford. I have also been contacted with other information, but have not been able to confirm it as accurate and therefore could just merely be speculation.

This case reminds me of another one (American or Canadian), of course I can’t remember the victim’s name, but it was a woman who called her parents distressed wanting to come home To them but then she disappeared. She was caught on CCTV wearing a trash bag as rain protection but then just vanished. That case seems more than likely related to a mental health break - this case not as conclusively.

@RebekahMargaret Жыл бұрын
Very bizarre case, I agree a mental break seems most likely however I do wonder if there’s something more triggered it than just day to day stresses? Given the time of the new lodger as well it seems a bit coincidental… & why she felt the need to go a total different direction prior to her planned destination, paranoid she was being followed maybe? Also I love the new background, it feels more personal & comforting to watch. I agree a piece of art or something above the plant could be a nice touch. Perhaps something related to what you do? A quote or logo or message of hope, something that reminds us as to why sharing cases is important. Xx
@JoliNatural Жыл бұрын
A mental break could be what triggered her spontaneous trip to see her parents, yet even still, there's no significant woodland close by for Marcia to walk to without being spotted by at least some other motorists. Also it would have been so tricky reaching any woodland on such a dark night with lots of fencing and such in the way. So unusual.

@scout72430 Жыл бұрын
Very odd, it does seem like she had a breakdown and either purposefully or accidentally killed herself. Someone taking her would be hard to do, because I really don't think she would have left her dog not to mention she had already ignored one driver; I mean sure that person could have forcefully taken her but that would be so risky to do out in the open like that. I do wonder if maybe something had already happened to Ziggy since she never mentioned to the man that her dog was missing, but then again if she was distressed she may not have thought to ask for help. The fact that Ziggy has never been seen again is strange, but also no unusual for someone to have found a dog and just decided to keep them without informing anyone else or Ziggy also died that day which would be super odd.

Everything points to suicide, except the fact that she took Ziggy along with her. It doesn't make sense that she'd bring Ziggy with her if she intended to disappear forever. There isn't a chance that she dropped Ziggy off at a shelter on the way? But even that seems like a far stretch for someone to do to their familiar. If she'd left Ziggy with a friend or family member it would have been easier to understand the case.
