Shame that this ARTIST didn’t take first prize… is the jury made up of the same stale minded dinosaurs that eliminated Pogorelich all these years ago? Probably yes, and shame on them for not being able to recognize genius when they hear it! Very disappointed at the quality of the jurors and looking forward to attending this young man’s concerts!! He is a breath of fresh air in today’s mostly mechanical, metronomic musical performances . Bravo Georgijs !!

Noble, precious, rare, something that cannot be overlooked. He is poetry itself. Osokin's play creates the subtle yet irresistibile atmosphere.
Win it this time, Georgijs! For me you are already the winner! This is a higher level of virtuosity!

Although this is a competition, the most wonderful part is to listen to performance of true musicians who convey their own understanding/ideas in music through playing Chopin. I’d love to listen to more Osokins’ performance.

@fulviojommelli61932 жыл бұрын
He is talented but uses it in an undisciplined way. He allows himself too many freedoms, in many of his choices he is excessive (specially in the nocturne), stylistically between Horowitz and Pogorelich... but the competition isn't the right place for too many poetic licenses, and in fact Pogorelich himself in the 1980 edition was eliminated soon. In a possible final round, this pianist would be a nightmare for the orchestral players, forced to flex continuously.

Highly original playing. This will probably be too controversial for most jurors, but he deserves to be appreciated for this. He makes a lot of music, takes the time where needed to emphasize what he wants to tell. I am not sure though if the novelty will not wear off in use. So far, I enjoyed listening very much.
