The Stupid Case Of The Crypto Couple

It's a modern twist on money laundering: arrogant and moronic in equal regard. This video is about the couple who planned to launder billions of dollars worth of bitcoin and escape to either Russia or Ukraine; but also wanted to become famous from rapping and writing articles in Forbes about the dangers of cyber crime. They thought they were so cool. That's my favorite part.

This case is a slam-dunk and also incredibly funny and satisfying, even though it'll be a breeze to solve. And, second, you'll have years and years of engrossing stories to tell your relatives over holiday meals, about these two world-class morons who created an entire idiocy ecosystem they thought they could escape into. I would bet this investigation went on longer than it needed to precisely because investigators were having too much fun for it to end.

It's mind-blowingly weird - and embraces its own weirdness with an attitude, I was about to say courageous, but I don't even think that describes it, it's more like a "I'm cringe, so what, IDGAF" attitude...

@@joshfennell2257 Very well noticed! That's one of the things that clued me on to her being weird rather than self-aggrandizing. Now let me make something clear preemptively, I'm not insinuating that neurodivergency causes one to commit crime, (although statistically, those of us who are neurodivergent, is more likely to end up on the wrong side of the line on this issue), and I'm not saying it's an excuse for her criminal behavior, or for that matter, an excuse for her repetitive gestures and face expressions - but it is very likely part of the explanation of what sets her apart from others - and the repetitiveness you noticed. If you listen to her talk in her videos, then you'll notice she has a very distinct pattern of speak+tone of voice. She also has sensory information issues, especially Synesthesia, (high occurrence in people with ASD). The co-occurrence of ADHD and ASD is extremely high, (40% or more who has ASD also has ADHD) ADHD is known to cause issues with rythm and movement - I know a bunch of girls with ADHD and watching them dance is like a "white girls can't dance" meme LIVE!!! Just like her, they have absolutely no sense of rythm, but it's not stopping them! Also, some of the topics she dives into in her, "music"(!?), her "artistic expression", is not classic self-centered self-aggrandizing BS. She "committed" a track focusing on how the American healthcare system is a huge failure due to corporate greed! I know, maybe it's primarily my intuition, but everything I've seen so far, screams neurodivergent who has come to terms with her own weirdness - and still want to express herself. Of course I might be wrong, but honestly, the more I've learned about her, the more I get this impression. Even the way she talks about her "artistic expressions"/"music"-videos etc., I really find it hard to see that she's someone who thinks she's the next Cardi B or a female Kanya or Will Smith...

@@JonesySurvived Eh, wallet metric is no real world metric, both neither you nor him can know how many wallets are in use and how many wallets are linked to individuals. I personally currently had 21 wallets, for 17 of those I forgot my password or lost them due to my drives crashing (one of those was from 2011 and even has ~40 bitcoins in it, that wallet is by now in nirvana together with its worth). Wallet inflation is a thing and number of existing wallets never represents number of existing users, especially since professional scammer use tornado, a service requiring you to use a dozen of wallets

@@joshfennell2257 If you're tech savvy and really know how to get shit done, you have a future in Russia - that is, unless you start f..k¡ng with businesses in Russia. The people who is aspirin to become a new subclass of oligarchs in Russia is the scammers and hackers. They are an almost protected class, as long as they don't shit in the kitchen sink.... As long as they target people, organizations, corporations, or countries, that isn't on the best buddies list of Kremlin - they get to do almost what they want... But, of course, the big question is - did they commit the crime they are charged with themselves, or was other people involved - and if there was, then who!? If they did it all alone, I'm pretty sure they will be viewed as an asset in some of the organizations currently focusing on commiting similar crimes... But then there's also the risk that some of the cryptocurrency they lifted belonged to someone in one of these organisations, and then it's not unlikely that they suddenly would go "byebye"....

I ask because where I live in Scandinavia it wouldn't be that hard for them to get jobs, but then again - where I live, we have a relatively high focus on rehabilitation in our prison system.
