Exploring the Dark Hedges and the Giant's Causeway along the Antrim Coast, Northern Ireland

In this week's Cache Walk we are geocaching at the Dark Hedges a filming location for the Game of Thrones a fantasy drama television series and the Giants Causeway a wonderful geological feature on the Antrim Coast. There's even Spanish treasure. Come with us as we explore this beautiful coastline.

Our daughter studied in Dublin so we drove from there to the Giant’s Causeway in Oct 2022. Very few people then 😄 and we walked across the rope bridge, what a thrill. Really enjoyed your cache walk, brings back nice memories!

Glad you liked seeing it again. Great you had it free of the crowds. Unfortunately we missed the rope bridge. They have timed tickets and it was closed for a few hours due to the high wind.

This is something I have wondered about. When you drive, you drive on the left hand side of the road, but when you're walking, as evidenced in this video, you're walking on the right. I thought you would walk on the same side as you drive. On the left. Interesting. The Giant's Causeway is on our list for when we visit Ireland. That is so cool!! Nice walk that one. What amazing scenery.

You will love your visit I am sure. The Antrim Coast is a very beautiful place and well worth a few days visit. When we are walking on country roads our parents told us it's best to walk on the right so you can see the cars coming towards you rather than have them come up from behind you. I think we often walk that way without even thinking about it 🙂

Yes, the Antrim Coast is full of amazing places to visit. The troubles in Northern Ireland have in the past limited the number of people visiting but hopefully with peace more people will discover these wonderful places and their geocaches.

Could you fly a drone down that road with all the trees? That would make for a spectacular shot! I love those volcanic columns! :)

I didn'tt think about flying well above the trees and down the road. You are right it would have been a great shot. I am still getting used to having the drone with me and thinking of shots. Our rules are so tough here it's rare that we fly it. When in the UK their rules are much more positive and we fly more often.

@@GeoRick That and also the time it takes to get the drone out and prepared. That can cut into caching time. :(
