At last, someone slowly demonstrating the various sounds and settings of Geoshred, instead of just using it as an excuse to show off their keyboard/shredding skills. Well done, a very very useful tutorial.

I’ve taught guitar 43 years and know music making. This is recently new to me. And extraordinary, an instrument that is immediately fun for someone who has never touched an instrument, giving them an experience found nowhere else, yet also a capable instrument for professional use. Simple and elegant solution yet radicle when you think about the progression of instruments through history. As radicle as the iPhone mine is on perhaps. Very cool.

Is there a way to put the quick tuning select onto the control surface? I need that a ton because I love to switch the tuning on the fly rather than to go into the keyboard menu and all that. I obviously can still just not close the Performance Settings, but the window takes half of the valuable screen space. Could you kindly give a few tips?
@GeoShred11 ай бұрын
Yes you can do that with the control surface editor. - Go to "Menu> Control Surface" - Clear 1 vertical slot on your control surface - Add a button for "Peformance> Root", and a button for "Performance> Scale". For more information on the Control Sufrace Editor look at Chapter 5 "Control Surface Editor" kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4GuY2aXq6eebqMsi=W2aRlg_YdHtEmuz5 Note that all the GeoSWAM and Naada presets provide a version of the instrument with Root/Scale on the control surface. For instance for the setlist "GeoFlutes" there is a preset called "GeoFlute Scale".

@@GeoShred yeah, I already watched this video thoroughly and did what you described before posting my previous comment, but that doesn't solve my problem. I don't want to switch between the hints, which suggest the notes of the scale (be it Western, Indian, Arabic, or other types, I get that they also change the cents sometimes to sound authentic), I want to switch entire tunings, like "Geoshred all fourths", "Harpejji" or "Open Dsus2", is there a way to have the wheel with each tunable string handy? I would have loved the "Edit" > "Performance Settings" > "Keyboard" > "Tuning" if it didn't take up half of the screen, otherwise it's fantastic!
@GeoShred11 ай бұрын
@@AndreyOrochi I see. No the tuning is not under parameter control. It was too complex and would not have mapped to MIDI. What you can do is create a setlist with different versions of your preset using different tunings and then use the setlist mechanism to switch between these presets.

@SanthanSalai6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I happened to use this app for a while. One problem I face is, due to repeated sliding, friction between the finger and touch screen increases. This really makes me difficult to continue playing. I'm using ipad 2018. I have a question. Will buying ipad pencil helps? Does geoshred support pencil? I don't want to invest in buying a pencil if it doesn't work on geoshred. If it works, how does the experience compare with playing using fingers?
@GeoShred6 жыл бұрын
Santhan, at the moment we don't have plans to add pen support because GeoShred is a MultiTouch Instrument. I know that both Mahesh Ragvan and Jordan Rudess use overlay screens that help with the problem you describe. I will ask them for a link to what they use. Drop us a note at support@moforte.com and we can share that link with you by email.

It’s a shame that there isn’t much info on geoshred being used by wind instruments. I’m using Aerophone ae05 and the geoswamtenorsax has made it possible to use the aerophone in live performances.

The GeoSWAM Models are licensed from Audio Modeling for the GeoShred Keyboard and MPE controllers only. If you can get your wind controller to speak MIDI like an MPE controller then you are good.

May i know sir, how many preset Indian instruments do we get in GeoShred play? Are there more plugins that we can buy as we need them later? Could you please give detailed info. I actually want to use the GeoShred play as a supportive instrument with my Korg arranger especially for sitar, violin, flute!
@GeoShred5 жыл бұрын
There are about roughly 180 presets. Note that GeoShred does not play back samples, it's a model of the physics of plucked strings. Thus all the presets are based on plucked strings. There is a Sitar and Mahesh Ragavan's Xitar model. You can also use GeoShred as a MIDI/MPE controller to control sample based instruments like SwarPlug. Many folks who post videos playing "flute" on GeoShred are using GeoShred as a controller for a desktop based VST/AU like the SWAM flute.

There is a Sitar preset in GeoShred Play. GeoShred Play can also purchase the GeoSWAM Instruments. Here is a comparison of the different versions of GeoShred: www.moforte.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/GeoShred-5-one-sheet.pdf Basically Pro is everything. Play is a preset player, no MIDI, no AUv3 plugin. Control is a MIDI/MPE controller, no built in engine.

If you want your iPad to stay current for several years, then we recommend that you get an iPad that at least runs the latest version of iOS. Though GeoShred runs on older iPads, some features are not, available in the older version of iOS (AUv3 plugin support for instance). Here is a list that might help you with your decision: everyi.com/by-capability/maximum-supported-ios-version-for-ipod-iphone-ipad.html And as always we recommend that users get the most powerful iOS device that they can afford.

GeoShred Play is a player for GeoShred Presets. It does not have the various editors (preset, control surface, setlist) or MIDI. Play can be upgraded to Pro with an in-app purchase. This in-app purchase in the iTunes App Store can be reached from the GeoShred Play Menu with "Menu> Pro Upgrade". @GeoShred4 жыл бұрын
If you have GeoShred Play, Play does not offer editing of Presets. If you have GeoShred Pro, for any preset you can edit the parameters with Menu> Model & FX. If you want to edit the echo tap on "Echo" and turn off the echo. We have a flyer for the family of products at www.moforte.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/GeoShred-3.0-one-sheet.pdf Look at page 2 there is a comparison. Basically Pro is everything. Play is a preset player, no MIDI, no AUv3 plugin. Control is a MIDI/MPE controller, no built in engine. If you want to upgrade GeoShred Play to Pro go to "Menu> Pro Upgrade".
