Best video/review/demo of the M by far, congrats. Would love to see another patch creation video - I just can’t quite decide on this one. Almost pulled the trigger last week. Thanks Jamie, and you are looking well indeed. 👏

Thanks, sadly I only have it a short while and is packed up to be sent back to the Distributor this week. It's a cool Synth and the added Functions for the Digital Filter are really great.

@@GEOSynths hi Jamie, any chance that you will be able to borrow one back and develop a library for the M. I decided to order one, but I feel it would be a good candidate for purchasing a library. Normally just do it myself - but this feels a little new to me.

Someone might have already mentioned this 😊, but it’s worth pointing out that if you want Ringmod-like sounds in classic mode, you can loop a very short envelope to make an audio rate modulator!

i like the quantum foam idea. i was very inspired by the makenoise telharmonic video of the same name which uses the digital artifacts from that module which are very similar to what the m spits out, in order to create a virtual sort of froth

The Waldorf M is an awesome synth. Its my first since i learned how to play keys. Amazing grit. Everytime i turn it on, i love it. Im getting another synth, the Kurzweil K2700. The M goes into whacko tones, and the K2700 does the heaven thing.

Later in the vid, were you intentionally panning the patch to the right? I notice it occasionally goes left but doesn’t seem consistent.

That's using Random as a source for Panning, it re-triggers across the stereo field with each key press, like Sequential Synths.

Me too. I wondered why sometimes the ringmod didn't work and now I know! 😜😉😋👍
@analogsynthtim88232 жыл бұрын
@@supercompooper yes, the ringmod did not work in the 8 bit mode. But I love to activate the Acid bug in 8 bit and drive the amp. You can get really dirty sounds. I absolutely love the M

Can you do the Kyra? It has 8 outputs. So ideal for 2x surround sound.

its unfortunate that you cant use all of the features in mode 2, because i prefer the sound of that mode generally. if you could use hard sync & the new digital filters with it, it would be perfect. but its damn near perfect as it is anyway

Thanks for the excellent / informative video. So between this Waldorf M and the UDO Super 6 what would you choose? I know they are very different machines.
@Wagoo Жыл бұрын
I think you need both..
@sub-jec-tiv Жыл бұрын
Depends what you want. If you want experimental, weirder tones and lots of modulation, M. If you want an absolutely gorgeous sound with a simpler interface, Super 6. Personally i’d buy the Super 6 because i prefer a gorgeous sound to a wild/harsher/aggressive or weird sound. And i already own modular for weird or harsh stuff. M just doesn’t have the gorgeous tone and gorgeous tone is why i’d use a poly synth.
@allencowley2112 Жыл бұрын
@@sub-jec-tiv Thanks for your helpful advice. Yeah I'd def go for the Super 6 over the M. I just bought a Matriarch, I 'm tempted to return it and get the Super 6 in grey.

I am curious how much of the magic is lost on the iridium or is the iridium the better buy here since it has the wave table functions
@GEOSynths2 жыл бұрын
The Iridium has a lot more functionality, which might be a good or bad thing depending on complexity, the M has an Analog Filter, which really does enhance the quality of the sound over time, but it's best to think of the M as a Waldorf microwave MK3.
@mastermachetier55942 жыл бұрын
@@GEOSynths ya I love the microwave sounds and those analog filters sound great. I know the iridium has a function to emulate the vintage modes on the microwave style things. It would be nice to see a direct comparison thoughts video if you ever have a chance

The only real/biggest reason to get this IS mode 1 and thats reason enough for me, I would want it for the "character" not the features, otherwise theres tons of other wavetable synths out there more

Uhhh ... sounds great. Waldorf creates wonderful synths (I formerly owned a Blofeld and a Streichfett). But sometimes it´s too much menu diving (especially the Blofeld ... lots of settings but the menus drove me crazy). Nevertheless a fantastic sound.

@111thetawave2 жыл бұрын
do you own an M or is this just from going of demos (which is fair I'm just curious)
@Creepysuitguy2 жыл бұрын
@@111thetawave I borrowed one for a week from a fellow composer, and tried to love it, I just didn’t feel like it gave me something I didn’t already have or the wow factor I got from the 3rd wave. I will say I liked the Kyra that Waldorf put out, at least until I realized the filter would glitch out with quick attack times, and long sequences. Given that they seem to be content to let the kyra die a slow death, and refuse to do any firmware updates to fix the bugs I let that one go. That’s just my opinion, but that doesn’t mean it’s right or wrong. I recommend everyone get their hands on to try out anything that gives them that curious whimsical feeling, videos only get you so far if something has really captured your imagination.

Love Waldorf synth but this one, it's like a pre beta of a "why". The techno geek in me likes it, but the music guy in me ses, no no no, not this one. Also, it absolutely looks awful. like 3-4 persons trying to design it but not agreeing on anything. It's like it's made of spare parts that don't fit together. Kinda like a Tardis... ehh am I gonna want one now?
