Turkey is squatting on older greek culture. Istanbul was Constantinople. look it up. Even istanbul is taken from Greek 'mes stin polis ' to the city. Izmir is taken from word Smyrna. You are welcome. When turk invaded they couldn't beat our culture, music , food, coffee they became invaded by our culture which was tied to asia minor land for centuries. The Ottomans stole it like everything else! It is Indo Greek, Turkey did not exist when this music was conceived, all of Asia minor was Greek speaking and this goes back even before Byzantium! Look at all the Greek names in what is now called Turkey! You need to learn some History!
