It is every patient rights to receive informed consent prior to ANY treatment.. That is PATIENT BILL OF RIGHTS. I work as a bedside nurse; i always tell my patients what medicine and what it is for before administering it. I actually encouraged them to ask questions, they know their body more than anyone else. Our goal is to treat patients without causing harm.

Ang mga doctor nga dito sa us nagbabayad ng liability insurance kasi andami-daming doctor nadedamanda kahit sa mga pinaka-maliit na reklamo. Mababankrupt sila kung wala silang insurance.Lalo na yung mga mga cosmetic surgeons, kasi pag di masaya ang patiente sa resulta, demanda kaagad.

I work at the hospital po and anytime the nurses and doctors administer any treatment, the patient will will be given all the information about it and they always ask for consent prior to any treatment. It’s okay to ask the nurses and doctors po coz it’s your right as a patient but it’s gotta be polite naman po and in a right way.

Here in the US, FYI, patient centered care is a priority, where in, all patients are important members of the collaborative team! In short, patient’s input is needed for everything, it is essential to ask what works for them and how they be better cared for, and they have all the authority to accept or refuse any medications, procedures, or treatments. Patient centered and individualized care, not all treatments work for all patients, and patient has the last say to everything. Unlike the Philippines, we don’t just bow down to all what a single doctor says, everyone has a say and can contribute to improve patient experience and better health outcome!

Nurses/Doctors are trained to know a patient's case(condition, treatment etc.) since college days. So, these professionals will never be offended if you will asked them questions because they are already expecting it, unless you ask them in a rude way. However, there are times when a nurse doesn't know or not quite sure about things, so they need to clarify with the doctors. Which is fine..nothing bad about it. As a patient, normally, when a nurse or doctor will administer meds or procedures, they directly tell me what are those meds for and what it does to my illness. If it is a procedure, the reasons for doing so. Actually, standard din na bago nila ibigay ang kailangang gawin sa iyo, they encourage you to ask questions. If a family member is with the patient, they’re also informed. Nurses check on you from time to time kahit di ka magsalita.

It should not be the case that doctors are offended by being questioned. Without being asked, a good physician explains her disease and reason for management and possible side effects. A good doctor goes over the plan of action and possible options. The patient has the right to know and needs to consent to the treatment option that she wants. If a doctor does not explain or gets offended when questioned …change that doctor.

As a nurse, i dont take offense if magttanung ang pasyente kung anung gamot ung binibigay or tinuturok ko, karapatan un ng bawat pasyente and at the same time masesave ka din (nurse or doc) from committing an error in giving medications, lalo na at marami kang pasyente na handle at marami kang medications na due each patient. Just recently, my husband was told by my midwife to act like a 3 yr old “ask any question you have in your mind when it comes to management and treatment especially sa gamot na ibibigay sa kanya to make an informed decision kahit obvious and alam mo kung pra saan ito at bakit ito ginagawa” and I agree.. Karapatan po ng bawat pasyente na magtanong at mag refuse lalo na at katawan nila ang involve, hindi po ibig sbihin na na admit ka sa hosp, at nag sign ka ng consent eh wala ka ng karapatan na magtanung at isasubmit mu na lang ang srili mu sa lahat ng gagawin sayo.

That is actually Patients' Rights. We are all entitled to question every medication being given to us and also the side effects. Nurses are also obliged to explain to the patients what medication they are giving to the patients and the side effects. BUT there are obnoxious patients, she maybe one of them. I have dealt a lot of obnoxious patients and their family, have to bite my tongue all the time.

That is your patient’s right and it is highly encouraging to be involved in your health care plan. Most sick people are very irritable because of their pain. The patients have every rights to ask the doctors what medications are being prescribed. The Pharmacists can also explain to you what the medication is being prescribed and how to use it. All the instructions are parts to be included in a package when the medications are handed to you. If you experienced any side effects to call your doctors. Nothing wrong to ask? Yes, it was our Balikbayan vacation to see the show with A. Rama, R. Gutierrez and few more guests. She even read my placard where I am (was) here in the States and she pronounced it correctly. During break time, she took off her high heels to slippers then when it was almost time to be On the Air, the worker put her heels 👠 on her feet. Mabait. Talaga kilos mayaman siya and very clean. She didn’t ignore us. Ako pa? laki na rin ako sa America but I still have kilos mahirap. Ha. Ha. Thank you for sharing your story. Kris and I have similar story (stories) I was born on February 12 and she was born on February 14. She is raising a special need child, son and I am also raising a special need daughter. We both worry about their futures. I cried and I could relate to her whenever she talked about Joshua’s future. I am the same way. At least Kris has one or two helpers and I don’t have it here in the States but the Government here have different programs for Special needs children and adults.

You don’t have to be in the medical field. Here in the States is so much different from Philippines 🇵🇭 when you see your medical doctors. In fact, your doctor will ask you if you have more questions? In the States, my health insurance company, Kaiser Permanente sends me questionnaire via USPS mail (United States Postal Service) as a survey package of what we think of our visits to our primary doctors , how long we waited to be seen? Did any of our concerned have been met? Did the doctor take time to listen? Did the doctor order any lab work? Etc. Seguro sa Philippines ayaw nila ang maraming tanong basta bibigyan ka na ng reseta (prescriptions). Minsan dito kapag nagprescibed ang mga doctors na mahal ang mga drugs, you can call the doctor’s office to prescribe a Generic prescription. In fact, I was at my doctor’s office and she started to prescribe me a prescription and I said to her, doctor, I cannot take Vitamin C and she said Why? I said my acid reflux will give me problems. She said, no this is a supplement Vitamin D to help your bones. I do a lot of walking and sometimes I probably do an excessive exercise and it hurt my bones and muscles. I don’t have arthritis as yet? Every patients have rights to questions their physicians. Otherwise, we can call or write to complain.? From California USA 🇺🇸. August 2, 2022. Get well Ate Kris.
