I was on my way to work at the nursing home where I was a social worker when KPRS 103.3 Historically owned Black radio station announced Gerald LaVert died. There was no time to process it. The tears just rolled down my face. I's the youngest of 4. and played music all the time at home. My sister especially loved the Mighty O'Jays. And Gerald had that robust Man voice just like his Dad. And his songs often gave us a glimpse at his sincere vulnerability.

The video is beautiful. They seem like they really enjoyed each other's company. I love how Eddie allowed his son to shine even though he was the bigger star. It's very clear this is Gerald's song and he is only featuring.

I love this song my grandfather sings this to my grandma. He would sing many songs that touched her heart. But he knew she loved this song the most. R.I.P. Gerald Levert. This is real music, the music that you can actually understand. Not the music that refers to women as downgrading names. I love this kind of music that refers to women as men's everything and their love.
