Bro can’t we just go fishing like it’s 1999? FFS is awsome tech no doubt, but it flies against the POINT OF THE DAMNED SPORT. Casting and catching is maybe 10% of the sport. Knowing and predicting bass behaviour and biology is 90% of the sport. FFS has flipped that script upside down.

Im for advancing technology but im sorry FFS is going to be the demise of bass fishing! I mean, i cant locate deer with a drone and then go shoot him. I cant spot light him at midnight and shoot him. FFS is exactly that. Its so annoying watching fishing anymore, which I don't because of ffs. I just want bass fishing to be about learning how the bass react to changing conditions and not just watching them on a screen and trying to catch them on a screen.

G, I get it brother. It’s another tool in the box when you need it. I’m an auto technician and the technology changes for us every year. One of the biggest things to come out in the past 10 years is collision avoidance systems. Probably 85-90% of shops do not have the hardware or software to reset/reprogram these systems. Your dealership should have this. About 5 years ago it cost between 15-20k to purchase the hardware and software to service this system and you were not trained how to do this. You then had to take classes on how to operate this equipment and follow the instructions and purchase the software that gave you the directions for each different car. If you wanted to get your hand in the pot of recalibration it would cost you around 30k to do so. Just like FFS, if you wanna get into those offshore fish you practically have to get into FFS. It’s not mandatory but your chances of finding fish are WAY better. We’ve always been told if your fishing the bank 90% of fish are behind you. I’m not a fan of it in pro fishing level. Sure use it in practice but go out there on game day with what you learned in practice and apply it. If it’s not working try something else. A good fisherman should have 5 baits he has the utmost confidence in and go out and throw them. 5 baits he has proven to get bit on in the past 2-3 days. On game day go out with your knowledge and put them in the boat the best way you know how.

No, what you had at BASS was a board that was selected to keep it. Now, I don't care that y'all use it or don't. I just object to BASS not being honest about it. Just call it what it is. Half and half is an interesting notion. Could even do no FFS in the classic only? So many ways to bass fish. Technology sure has changed. Maybe not always for the better too... What else could they do to shake things up a bit? Crankbaits only in one tournament, flipping only in the next? Lol Just sayin they could make it more interesting. More challenging like it used to be. Flip a coin for each tournament..? Heads you can use FFS and tails you cannot this tournament?.. Been using FFS for 3 years and I'm still catching them on spoons, crankbaits, flipping, like I've always done. Just more of them because I can see stumps and grass and brush better so fewer wasted casts. I own a few minnows but I can count the total ones I've caught the non-traditional way on my fingers.

I agree. It’s absolutely ridiculous how everyone thinks it will be the end of bass fishing and how it compares to spot lightning deer. It’s incredibly hard to get them to bite with FFS and in spotlighting deer you kill the deer. We are just catching fish not shooting them. The whole thing is ridiculous. I have it and will continue to use it. It’s fun to me.

I’ve watched professional fishing or read the magazines for 40 years. I can’t remember a time when the pro tours were not perceived as a marketing tool for all the stuff we see. Boats, trucks, motors, batteries, reels, rods, baits, fishing line, clothing, electronics and so on. The last couple of years with FFS, the big 3 have sold a ton of these units, generating lots of money for the tours and the anglers. Where does the lack of FFS in the tour leave the money and sponsorship from Garmin, Humminbird and Lowrance?

It seems to me there’s a simple solution. There’s no law that says these organizations are the only ones that can pit on tournament series. It’s really simple supply and demand. Let the market speak for itself. In the end, we’ll see who has more viewers and who makes more money. If there is really much difference at all. Seems like to me, Garmin and Lowrance should be willing to put a little skin in the game if some folks wanna make a tournament series with their products. I personally enjoy watching the forward facing sonar. The simple fact is, when the fish are up shallow and feeding like crazy in the spring, that’s how you catch them. It doesn’t really make a difference or help when it’s flipping season. Sure makes the winter and summer fishing so dang boring.

Yes.. FFS is another tool. But it should have limitations. Over harvesting, including catch and release, will lead to unintentional consequences on fish populations. We need to conserve our resources and make the playing field level at the same time. There is big money behind this technology and isn't going away. AND G-Man, thanks for taking care of me by giving me a rod at Triton Owners tournament years ago because I was Veteran..😊

Mike Haduck masonry, Pennsylvania mason of multiple generations moved to sunnier Florida climate recently published his episode entitled 'brickwork is dead'. Even the bricks aren't what you think they are now he said. They are just a printed image stuck on. It seems that every craft has become a pretend version of what it used to be. Mike in his episode offered some explanation as to why.

All the people calling it spotlighting are using a bad analogy to make it look bad. It would be closer to a trail cam and scope on a rifle. It helps you locate the fish and hit your target but the fish still has to make the decision to bite.

Not to mention, FFS doesn't freeze the bass in its tracks. If anything, bass are getting conditioned to move away from the ping. Before FFS, anglers would often turn off their sonars in really shallow water for this reason.

It’s a business, whatever make’s the most money. Professional fishing isn’t treated like a sport, it’s a marketing tool for manufacturer’s of equipment for fishing.
